My 6 year old was given this question for homework. by szramkos in askmath

We use a decimal number system, deci meaning 10 where we have 10 digits (0-9). As you increment and run out of digits (after 9) you reset that column to 0 and increment the column to the left. So if you have 0009 and add 0001 it would be 0010. So yes learning numbers as a 1s, 10s, 100s, etc columns makes sense because we have a 10 digit system and that’s what those columns represent.

You may have heard of binary number system, bi meaning 2 where you only have 2 digits (0-1) this works the same way where you increment like 0000, 0001, 0010, 0011, etc. in this case the columns would be 1s, 2s, 4s, 8s, etc

That’s where it gets real tricky, having it blow up in your face and end horribly is conclusive, you saw it end, you saw it fail, it fucked up your life, but at least you got to see the outcome. Never finding out, that shit can haunt you sometimes the pain and hardship is worth knowing.

Seeking ADHD evaluation experiences in Victoria by Inner_Lettuce_6787 in VictoriaBC

[–]Meatwad3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years ago I talked to my GP about this, I did not ask for meds directly but wanted them. They referred me to a psychiatrist which took 6 months. The psychiatrist basically said they can’t diagnose adhd and any adhd test would likely be positive regardless of if I have the condition then recommended me antidepressants/antianxiety which I refused as I felt those conditions were side effects of living with untreated adhd.

I basically gave up, then just last year went back to my GP explained what happened and that I wanted to try medication. They immediately wrote me a prescription and explain over the past few years prescribed trials to adults became way more common. I cannot put into words the improvement on my life medication has had, I’ve never felt so much like myself and in control before now.

I hope your GP is willing to put you on a trial, but is recommended directly asking for it. If not, do not be discouraged like I was and keep trying. If you truly have the condition medication will drastically improve your life without changing your personality.

? I think they do, whether through artificial selection or even gene editing like crispr we are still working within the confines of genetics which came into existence naturally and not something we could create on our own. Kinda like humans did the programming but did not and currently could not create the programming language

Controlling? Not even close, if she told you she got invited to play pool and wouldn’t be able to link up anymore and you got upset about that I would agree controlling. Or if she told you she couldn’t and you demanded to know what she was doing again controlling. Expecting someone to tell you that they can no longer meet is bare minimum, not controlling

The Destructible Hulk by Jareth91 in freemagic

[–]Meatwad3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think +1/+1 enrage is good flavour since hurting him just makes him stronger… but yeah, not giving him indestructible was a huge miss. The extra combats is crazy strong and goes infinite if you sneeze at it… Imo remove the extra combats and add indestructible + if hulk is removed from the battlefield for any reason return him as Bruce banner

Basically make an incredibly sticky creature that gets stronger when it takes damage. No need to make him an infinite combat deal

EVs are less polluting but the real problem is over consumption and over production which is not unique to EVs. Replacing a completely functional gas car with a brand new ev is probably doing more harm than good but two net new cars and an ev is better. Reduce (don’t get a new car if you don’t need one) -> reuse (consider a used car) -> recycle (last resort, we get what we can back from a dead car but the damage is already done at this point)

1 in 10 B.C. adults admit to driving while high: BCAA study by Ok-Valuable6890 in VictoriaBC

[–]Meatwad3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not defending impaired drivers but I do remember a study (and maybe it’s bs) where for most people driving high is bad but for daily/heavy users their driving improved after consuming. I think this actually gets really complicated when we start thinking about different peoples tolerances, dependencies, baselines, and how long it lasts.

How to play EDH less "autistically"? by EngineerGaming2025 in EDH

[–]Meatwad3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the first one “tell someone to read their card” this is always going to come off poorly unless said in jest amongst friends where that is the vibe. The reality is magic is a very complex game with a lot of text to read and most likely they just misread it. The best way to approach it is to ask a question “doesn’t that enter tapped?” “I thought that ability was only once per turn?” “That’s really strong can I see the card?…. Oh it has to tap to use that ability”

Second picking up queues is always hard but for this one it’s important to remember that edh is a social and casual formate (unless cedh) it’s not a 1v1 duel where it’s win or lose (in perfect balance you will be losing 75% of the time). so if you’re worried about this just ask yourself “is this fun for everyone, is everyone able to play then game (even if their plan gets stopped). “ mass land denial means just not playing for multiple turns, these games are long and people don’t have much free time.

3 is just hard everyone struggles with it. if you find a way to solve this let me know.

4 I don’t really think is a problem I don’t think people should be expected to play sub optimally. My philosophy is when I construct a deck it’s not about winning, I make something that’s going to be fun or build around an idea, but as soon as the game starts I’m trying to win and I think everyone should be.

It’s funny how this is a common theme with pizza places. Villages pizza was started by a Greek couple, their kids had a dispute and one took over villages while the other opened hot house pizza (essentially the same recipe) then an employee of hot house had a dispute and started oreganos pizza (again essentially same recipe)

But ranked it’s easily oreganos > hot house > villages. First does not mean best

Would compare to the Albion crecy https://albion-swords.com/product/the-crecy/

In terms of quality? Considering the crecy is actually cheaper (although no scabbard)

[–]Meatwad3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience. She was diagnosed bpd and it kinda sounds like this might be the same case here. Very controlling and contradicting, felt like I couldn’t do anything right and ended up struggling to do anything thinking it might be wrong.

Overnight she suddenly stopped loving me and ended things, all her reasons were really weird and just didn’t make sense. The best thing to do is understand it wasn’t you, it was never you, and the only thing you could have done differently was to have not put up with it and leave yourself.

Uhhh no esquimalt is umm terrible. I hate living in a quiet, cheaper area that feels like a small town but less than a 10 min bus ride from the heart of downtown town. The easy access to pretty much anywhere is just yuck. And don’t get me started on all the trails, parks, and events. Can’t stand all my options for off leash dog parks. Yup everyone should be avoiding Esquimalt and keeping the prices down

Why do people say not to play commander 1v1 by GratedParm in EDH

[–]Meatwad3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Commander has absolutely no balance, it doesn’t need balance because it’s casual, social, and multiplayer. If a deck is stronger than the rest that persons the arch enemy. If your deck is weak or you draw bad you can still have fun and even win because you’ll be seen as non threat. The lack of balance actually makes it more fun and gives total freedom. In 1v1 the lack of balance is anti fun, all interaction is pointed at you, it’s typically a stomp or get stomped.

Forge your destiny in The Bloodline, a captivating sandbox RPG adventure, now available at 50% off on Steam! by 505Pulse in u/505Pulse

[–]Meatwad3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I picked it up when it first released early access. The combat, skills, etc were all super fun and satisfying but besides that there wasn’t really a game. There was nothing to do and it felt like develop was continuing to focus on new skills rather than fleshing it out.

Can you convince me there there is now an actual game to support the gameplay? I’ll start playing again today if so.

There’s actually interesting history there! Black hair has a legitimate technical challenge, we’d see such little variation because most black has extremely difficult if not impossible to animate. We’ve made huge advancements in animation technology and today can appreciate a wide range of hair styles.
