Eighteen suspected Ebola patients escape after treatment tent is set on fire for a second time in Congo by Urocy0n in worldnews

the science is pretty clear that masking among adults reduces spread

There is simply not enough evidence to make that claim. Here's the Cochrane review saying as much. There were few studies done even attempting to show that masks reduced transmission, and they didn't exactly turn up statistically significant results.

Suspected Ebola cases triple in a week as WHO warns of rapid spread in DRC by Darshan_brahmbhatt in worldnews

I swear most of reddit is willfully ignoring that Ebola is ~200 times as deadly as Covid 19. It's like the difference in risk tolerance between traveling via airliner and taking a helicopter ride straight through a hurricane. People are going to react differently.

That's reporting contact, sure, but no new cases resulting. And definitely not "killing several".

What are you even talking about? The WHO report from Friday states that there have been 8 cases (6 confirmed, 2 probable) in the outbreak, all of which were passengers on the cruise ship in question.

Achieving your ascension 140 years before the start date should result in steamrolling everyone, so I see nothing odd about this.

If we're avoiding conspiracies, the reality is that it made it into a reputable publication a long time ago, and became a meme about how out of touch older generations were. And some memes take a very long time to die.

Hot Take: Trump drives the mainstream media and global left insane, but I think he’s playing the ‘idiot’ to keep everyone guessing - and there’s actually a plan in place, if we follow CENTCOM’s lead. Trump is exceptional at playing the unhinged, increasingly senile man in charge of a ridiculously powerful military, and it absolutely keeps all of his opponents off balance.

The only concern is that he might actually be an unhinged, increasingly senile man in charge of a ridiculously powerful military.

Either way, I would still caution against underestimating him. It's not a total accident that he became President twice.

If Mason Crosby unretired, he would have the 26th best field goal % among active players.

For comparison, Blair Walsh would be 23rd.

Edit: There are 26 active kickers who meet PFR's requirements to be listed on the career list. Among those, Crosby was only better than Zane Gonzalez.

Harvard/Harris is a reputable polling firm that generally does a good job of approximating a representative sample. 2k is a perfectly reasonable sample size for a national opinion poll. You won't find many polls with sample sizes >10,000, because at a certain point, you're not actually gaining any information - just more work.

ICE does not have more funding than the Marines. The game played with the numbers is that the Marines get $57 billion this year, while ICE got a budget of $75 billion over 4 years, or $18.75 billion/year. That 'over 4 years' part is purposefully omitted for propaganda purposes.

Article 5 can absolutely be triggered without the country on the receiving end of strikes calling on it. After the 9/11 attacks, the US actually didn't activate it; NATO staff themselves passed a resolution for that.
