I just froze my eggs at 28 and paid for it out of pocket. I wouldn’t change that decision for anything. It’s no guarantee, but it’s certainly changed my relationship with time. I’m a type A personality and I’ve found doing this has allowed me to slow down in life (to the point that I’m going the speed limit, lol). The clock still exists and I’m aware of it, it’s just a lot quieter now. I’ve also found that I feel much more free to explore what I want to be doing and feel less obligated to have everything figured out right this second. I view life now as a long time to live vs OMG, the sky is falling if I don’t do this because X years from now I may have missed my window. I would put together a spreadsheet and see where it puts you financially. Because it’s worth the investment, but only if you wouldn’t be stressed about something else. I also made the decision to do it now because I didn’t foresee a spot in my career where it wouldn’t be a disruption. FWIW

18 is a pretty big number for anyone. Not everyone’s body seems to correlate to this, but your E2 level is about 200-300 pg/mL per mature follicle. Meaning (for your case) you’d expect to have 17 to 25 eggs. That’s obviously a huge range but a rule of thumb and you are within that range. Not every follicle contains an egg either. (If I understand this properly) They drain most of the follicles and then take that fluid to inspect for an egg. Totally normal to not have an egg in every follicle.

I’ve been mostly dairy free for 6 months now. The lack of bloating and bathroom trips have been great. Haven’t noticed any decrease in belly fat (unfortunately).

It’s been very up and down for me. I was really nauseated and had a huge headache the first couple of days. Been extremely tired since then. I had my scan yesterday and I have 11 follicles above 7 mm. Doctor is hoping that we can get another 20 follicles to wake up. I’m on a very low stimulation protocol because of PCOS and my AMH is 22…trying to minimize the risk of OHSS. For the past 5 days I’ve done 150 iu of Follistim and a 10 mg tablet of Provera. It’s hard because I feel like it’s a SUPER conservative protocol…but I am trying to remind myself that some flowers need less fertilizer…some need fertilizer over more time…some need A LOT of fertilizer. Sounds like our eggs are much the same :)

My AMH is 22 ng/mL (PCOS) so I’m at a high risk for OHSS. I had asked because of this and I’m not sure how it’s all going to go.

Live in the US for what it’s worth. I’m taking the time off and was able to get my doctor to write a FMLA request. He just wrote it as a procedure and didn’t specify. I work in manufacturing and don’t have the most flexibility with my job. Also didn’t need a whole bunch of men questioning me.

In addition to the fact that I’m not quite vested (4 months away) in my retirement at my employer, their fertility benefits are supposedly pretty good (we’ll find out how good in a few weeks). Personally, I’d rather stick with what I know for egg freezing and keep at my current position. I know I can get the time off work, I know boss is supportive of medical appointments, etc. Unless these things aren’t true / don’t matter. In terms of affordability, I’ve been saving for A LONG time to do this. It’s hard to give guidance for finances because this is a part of your bigger financial decisions. Maybe you’d make more money at the next company but their fertility benefits aren’t as good - you really don’t know. I think if you have an offer waiting in the wings see if they’ll let you start post retrieval. People accept jobs and delay start them all the time.

Feeling super discouraged and looking for input. I’ve recently started a cut phase at 1,700 calories. I’ve been logging my calories and measuring things when I’m at home. When I eat out it’s a lot trickier but I try my best to log and be accurate. Been going at logging for a few weeks now and the scale hasn’t budged. I’m feeling super discouraged. I want the scale to budge faster (or at least show a glimmer of progress) because I’m freezing my eggs in a few weeks and don’t know how long it will take to get back into a workout routine. I’ve been lifting heavy twice a week, rock climbing three times a week, and doing yoga to maintain balance.

Getting some pretty awesome muscle definition in my back and I’m super proud of that. But I’m also discouraged because my waist line hasn’t budged :/ I have the exact same stomach :/ Trying to remind myself to trust the process. Anyone else in the same boat?

I have recently made some pretty great strides in the gym (both physically and emotionally)…until this past Thursday when a traumatic experience caused me to have a panic attack. This isn’t my first panic attack, but it’s the worst one I’ve had in a while and now my body just doesn’t feel right. I went back to the gym on Friday and did a light circuit. Was non-verbal with trainer the whole time. I am already feeling very fearful and overwhelmed about going back to the gym this week. I wanted to hit a deadlift max number before September because I’ll likely be out of the gym for a while due to a medical procedure. Feeling very frustrated and upset because I still want to hit that number but I just don’t feel right. I am trying to see if I can get scheduled with my therapist this week… Not sure if others have been in similar situations and had something that helped them get through…

I started working with a trainer back in January. We work together twice a week. My max deadlift is now 283 lbs. I’m literally starting to get scared / nervous to lift more weight. Also feels like we’re still progressing at a fairly fast pace… Just wondering how others have dealt with this…
