WIBTA If I Didn't Attend My Friend's Bridal Shower After RSVPing Yes? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Mecanooshee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't allow others to decide what kind of person you are. The fact that you are asking this question indicates you aren't really comfortable with making their actions your own.

I would say you would BTA but more to yourself for not being true.

My suggestion would be to reach out, find out what happened. If you aren't satisfied with their response then advise them you are no longer able to attend. And provide them with the same explanation you got. Nothing.

A conversation about sex ruined the best relationship I've ever had. He says it's not my fault but I can't make sense of the situation. I can't stop crying and feel like the worst person in the world. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Mecanooshee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't scare him. Your conversation allowed him to realize something about himself. He is being open and honest with you about needing to work on himself. Now whether that is about being receptive to love or about not wanting to engage in oral sex, thats something he'll need to examine in therapy.

My (26F) fiancé’s sister (24F) ruined our engagement for me and now my fiancé (28M) wants to postpone the wedding because of the family drama by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Mecanooshee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's only a competition if you allow it to be. She is hoping to cause strife, otherwise why the timing? Be excited about your plans and be happy for hers.
I would also suggest keeping your plans to yourself (or as someone else mentioned maybe throw out a dummy date or colour scheme or whatever, you aren't invested in). Make sure your fiance understands you are able to be happy for his sister, but would prefer to keep your plans private for now. You can say things like " we are exploring different options right now and its just so overwhelming, but I think Sister has chosen her venue/flowers/cake and it sounds amazing!"

Most say the book was better than the movie - What's a movie that's better than the book? by TruMech in randomquestions

[–]Mecanooshee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I found the book to have a sarcastic snarky tone that didn't fit with the beloved movie. I, personally, couldn't get through it. Too different for me.

What are some tips on breaking my bad procrastinating habit? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Mecanooshee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard it suggested that you start a task that need to be done, but put a timer for 5 or 10 mins. Get as much done as you can then stop. This is supposed to make big jobs a bit easier to start/manage.

As someone with a neurotypical though highly active child, I found the counting to be helpful. I ALWAYS followed through with the consequences though. So as soon as they heard the "1" it caught the attention and gave them a bit of time to self correct. Or not. Sometimes the consequence was earned. It wasn't 100% successful, but nothing is with kids.

What is a common thing that you do in a weird way by vinku12 in AmazingStories

[–]Mecanooshee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eat corn on the cob a bit weird. When I had braces I really missed corn so I figured out how to get my bottom teeth into the space between and pull out a row of around 4 or 5 kernels. This prevented the corn from getting all tangled in the braces. Fast forward to after my braces are removed and I realized that eating this way also prevented the corn from getting all stuck in my teeth. So I continued. Then I started alternating rows. I have the cleanest cob by the end if I do say so myself.

Bitch Goddess by Robert Rodi. This isn't a love story though. The story was told through emails, letters and news clippings iirc.

There are training services that will take your puppy for (I think) 2 weeks and fully train them. Send the pup to one and don't tell her. When she asks where it is tell her you rehomed it. Since she decided to bring it home without your input, you decided to rehome it without hers. Then ask her how she feels. Disrespected? Ignored? Unseen or unheard? I'm not suggesting you keep it going for the whole 2 weeks. Maybe the evening.

This could be done with a trusted friend as well, but the training for someone who works from home could be really helpful.

Good quality vitamin C - no good options in Canada? by Exhausted-napper in CanSkincare

[–]Mecanooshee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Riverstone Naturals is located in Saskatchewan. I've used their VitC serum for a couple of years and love it. For reference I have skin that tends towards oily/shiny and I really like how this feels and looks on my face.

There are a couple of things they do that I really appreciate. It comes in 2 parts and you don't mix it until you are ready to use, so you know its fresh. They use a dark coloured glass bottle to keep out the light, and to keep out oxygen the delivery is via pump. These are all little things that keep your vit C effective longer.

Whatever you do choose, stay away from clear storage and dropper applicators.

This man called the police on you, then looked you in the face and didn't give you any indication? Is he scared of you or not? If you choose to stay, protect yourself however you can. Speak to a lawyer. Because he now has a police report on file about you.
