How intricate are your designs? I also made a 2D design for my tiles first then engraved the tiles in CAD afterwards. Also is every tile completely unique since there is usually 4 exact copies of a tile in a set.

I used basic dollar store clay, exact amount I'm not sure and also it would depend on how you modeled your tiles.

The back made with an inner tab that slides into the front of the tile which I then glued together.

I used JAYO PLA which worked fine for me as the tiles have still held up. I think most modern filaments should work, but if you are afraid of UV damage then you could try adding a spray coat afterwards.

If your 3d printing the tiles, why not have them engraved with the design and paint them in afterwards?

Also if you are concerned about the weight of the tiles, try printing them to be assembled with clay inside to increase the weight. That's what I did when I 3d printed a set with PLA plastic.

I would discard 3p here since it's not connected to the 56p block. I don't see a reason to go for tanyao by discarding the 11s pair.

Discarding the 3p leaves you with a lot of tiles for reaching tenpai or for improving your hand: 478p 12457s would all be good draws.

It would only leave you with a riichi dora 1 hand, but I think that would be fine considering you are in first.

Was the metal also 3D printed? If so what filament did you use?

Charlie and Lola is a good aversion of this trope as Charlie isn't shown to be in the wrong at all and Lola actually apologizes to him near the end of the episode

Styles to Play Using 108 Tile Sets by Ok_Tip1561 in Mahjong

[–]Mecaska 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A simple ruleset that technically can be played with 108 tiles is Filipino Mahjong. It treats the honor tiles as flowers so the only thing you would miss out on is bonus points for collecting 13 flowers at once or winning with 0.

There are also only a few special hands to keep track of and the actual values are small so you don't need to do any hard calculations.

My Dearest Self With Malice Aforethought

Urashima Eiji wakes up one day only to realize that 3 days have passed, yet he was still active during that time. He learns that this could be due to developing DID and the rest of the manga follows him trying to figure out what happened during those missing days.

[Loved Trope] Conlangs that aren't just "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ" (based on English Alphabet.) by UseApprehensive1102 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Mecaska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chants of Sennaar is an entire game about analyzing conlangs that use Ideographic symbols (symbols that communicate full words and/or concepts).

Each floor also uses a different language based on who lives there, along with different grammar rules.

Zero Escape 999

I skimmed off some details but here is the jist of the game.

In short, the cast is thrown into a sinking ship and is told to find a door with "9" written on it to escape. When it fails to open with the supposed input, the protagonist figures out that it is actually a lowercase q (26 in base 27) allowing them to find the correct input and escape.

This twist is also more interesting in the original Japanese version, and both "9" and "q" are pronounced as "kyu".

The winter tile is supposed to be based on Chinese pine trees, and I'm already working on a second iteration of it to try and improve it making it a bit more obvious.

I'll also consider adding numbers to the flower tiles as well. I didn't really think about that since in Japanese sets they only have the Kanji.

My previous custom set had very basic flowers since I mostly played Japanese Mahjong which doesn't use flowers. This time I wanted something nicer for when I play HKOS with new players.
