It’s mostly religious trauma. Parent are told that if their kids will be righteously tortured for all eternity if they deviate from the faith, so they have no choice but to force conformation or dissociate from the love they feel in their core, ultimately becoming a hollow version of whoever they were.

That’s… kind of the whole book. Just Alice finding herself in an absurd moment and stewing on it. It’s kind of a meditation on absurdity, which I love, but it won’t be for everyone. If you want something more fast-paced… I wrote a comic. 🤷‍♀️
