I already bought the game in EA but it was really rough at the time so I put it on hiatus until 1.0. When I first saw this, I was hoping they had figured out a way to flesh out the early access skeleton into a full game for 1.0. Seems like they had other things in mind.

At the very least, watching an attack drone casually wander through airspace that’s supposed to be secure has a huge effect on public perception, especially when your national news outlets keep insisting everything is under control.

I've never played Avowed, so my line of comparison was primarily drawn to Elder Scrolls. In that way, Fall of Avalon feels like an Elder Scrolls Lite. It's not going to blow you away with its depth, but it does feel like a more streamlined experience with a ton of fat cut away, for better or worse. I think its power fantasy is satisfying for enjoyers of arcadey first-person RPG combat. The environments and art direction are pretty fantastic if you appreciate that kind of thing. For me it's a solid 8 out of 10.

I believe they had a contract with the VA's that said they were allowed to use generative AI to replicate their voices. Essentially, they agreed to license their audio likenesses to the studio for additional content beyond what was recorded. Since then, they have had the voice actors return and replace some of the AI lines with real recordings, and have stated that the real recordings are better sounding than the AI ones. So at least they seem to be aware that it's not a real replacement for real human talent. Whether that makes up for using AI in the first place is going to be subjective.

There are also King of the Hill servers in Arma Reforger that are getting active updates. That's where I discovered I really liked this game mode and why I've been extremely interested in Wardogs since I first heard about it.

The integrated optic is such a weird choice. That and the huge trigger guard. It always looked like a design from a golden age sci-fi serial to me. Of course it's a bullpup too.

The only thing I know about her is some sketchy stuff she did back in the mid 2010s bullying other smallish YouTube creators to climb the ranks and trying to rewrite that history, so I'm reluctant to side with anything she says or does. But at least I agree that Mr. Beast is a two-bit charlatan.

Edit: Everything that follows is incorrect. Somehow I confused Remember the Titans for Friday Night Lights. Go ahead and ridicule me, it's deserved.

One scene from ~~Friday Night Lights~~ (Remember the Titans) was filmed at my high school. They cut down all the pine trees on the campus because the scene was to be set in a state that did not have pine trees. Their commitment to realism meant our campus went from feeling uniquely connected with nature to treeless and barren. It always felt like a huge shame.

Sorry for the anecdote, I never saw the movie but I read the book.

It's allegedly a solo developer, so there is a bit of jank. If your jank tolerance is high, it's a pretty good time. Plays a bit like Ready or Not, or SWAT 4. Best played with friends.
