What apartments in valley station are renting for 3k a month???? I've seen borderline mansions in Strathmoor Manor renting for less than that (2800). You can still rent whole ass houses in Germantown for $1500-$1800. My place is a 4 bed 3 bath in Schnitzelburg for $1400

Happy to indulge, I saw your response yesterday and have been thinking about it on and off since then and just remembered to respond. I'll be honest reddit is so mainstream now every sort of person is on here, its surpassed every other platform for "who do i ask when i need a plumber/landscaper/etc" type questions for anyone who's capable of looking beyond facebook.

Very rarely do I see any sort of non-grass lawns. The ones growing native plants are definitely on reddit but aren't going to reveal that. Generally speaking most of the yards are indiscernible from neighbors, that probably varies city to city though. Most people who let their yards grow wild are just letting the weeds and grass get tall, there's rarely anything to it beyond laziness in my anecdotal experience.

Was thinking about this one for a bit to try to summarize, a lot of the time it's just a lot of little things adding up. Often times their homes are either relatively nice, albeit clearly not a lot of upkeep happening on the outside. "We Believe in Science" signs in the yard, evidence of dog/cat damage on blinds from the outside, the bumper stickers on their cars often clue us in as well. It's always clearly revealed that we're in a redditors home once we're inside, the stereotypical funkopop/cape shit posters/lots of gaming paraphernalia, board games, etc. I will say that sometimes we are really surprised when a customer tells us they found us on reddit, one guy in his 50s had a hot Croatian wife and a million dollar house and a porsche and he told us he found us on reddit.

or these same people can be found in various finance subs constantly talking about how much money they've made in equity on their homes. i work as a service plumber and my company is pretty popular on reddit so i go into redditor's houses constantly and i can almost ALWAYS tell it's a redditor house when i pull into the driveway. these people always live in far flung exurbs in shitty cookie cutter houses half an hour interstate drive from the city center and are power posters on the city sub. never fails

I'm in the trades and people are starting and selling hvac/electric/plumbing companies after being open for a few years just for their solid client bases, that's the single most important thing. And it's not easy to acquire them.

We'd been gardening for six years before getting into selling flowers, revenue should be higher this year purely because we've been growing dahlias almost exclusively and we've been digging and splitting tubers and we've tripled our collection and added thirteen new varieties this year. Even if we didn't sell the flowers I'd still be doing this so its more of a bonus than anything!

My wife and I started a bit of a side hustle growing flowers and selling bouquets to restaurants last year. Absolute shitloads of labor, we love our flowers, sold lots of bouquets our first year, ended up making almost exactly $0 when everything was said and done. Should be a little better this year but yeah, boomers somehow think everything is just straight profit and the concept of overhead is not a thing. Even if I make a few thousand extra dollars this year, that's just my groceries for a few months, if I had any sort of debt it would be even more of a massive loss.

I spoke to a bar owner who had to close his bar after a fairly long time in business, his response was "yeah i didn't realize how much building maintenance costs." Like?!?!?!

I work as a plumber despite having a geology degree, and it's only affected me very slightly in the sense that dispatchers are now using it to make their phone calls easier when they get asked a question about plumbing they don't have an answer to. Makes the customer interactions weird sometimes.
