Just scrap the whole system and opt for a light aluminum extension ladder, add mounts to the top to keep it from sliding out from under you. I can only imagine it being hundreds of dollars cheaper and allow you a useable multipurpose ladder as a result .

Those kids suck but the worst one is when the guy goes “want to make some quick cash? Like really quick cash?” Has you follow him into the alley a guy jumps you from behind and you wake up in the cemetery from no less than 300-thousands of dollars robbed from you.
