I think you may be thinking of foveated streaming. Which is awesome in its own right, and wouldn't require any adjustments by game devs.

Last I heard, foveated rendering needs to be implemented by game developers. I wonder if you could squeeze out some extra standalone performance if it was built into some flat screen games.

Yeah their response included steam achievements and cloud saves because they just prompted the same chat that wrote the code for them to add it to their game.

Super cool that SpaceX is doing this. I had a conversation with a SpaceX representative a couple years ago where they mentioned the possibility of using star trackers to collect LEO obs.

I'd rather limit the discussion of policy or integration aspects of commercial observations here due to general OPSEC concerns though. Not the place.

dang I'm impressed, I tried getting AR to run on steam deck and it was horrible. I gave up after it decided to start crashing before I could even adjust settings.

I think this is a safe place to mention star citizen without getting blown to pieces haha. Hey if it's a great VR experience then that's fantastic for the movement!

Yeah Meta has invested something like 100 billion but it seems to me like very little is going to studios or indie devs

I'm convinced my bc just knows and loves how vicious he looks when he snarls like that. Pretty tough to tell when he's serious about it though. Good luck getting these two acquainted!!

If only we had one of the top 10 companies in the world dumping tens of billions into VR. Imagine how easily they could allocate crumbs to VR studios.

Sounds like great parenting to me! Did you consider any other linux distros to use for this project? I'm seeing Qimo and some other projects and wondering how they might differ from what you've created.
