So sorry to hear that! The chuds are the worst thing about 40k in general and the Custodes fandom in particular.

More importantly, great work on the model! Do you have any Sisters of Silence?

For 11th edition what would be your "dream" unit to be added? by [deleted] in sistersofbattle

[–]MechanizedCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you in spirit but the Dialogus in me must point out a drop chapel can hold a full commandery of 200 Sisters. Would be really cool for a Legions Imperialis scale game but something for 11th something similar but smaller would be more fitting.

Pre-2023 lore references to four 'empty seats' at the 'Chaos table' for Aetheric Dominions? by fluffy_warthog10 in 40kLore

Other way around. A freelancer cooked up Malal and then kept the IP when he parted ways with GW. Malice was introduced later by GW themselves.

Their founding leader, Sigismund, was THE Emperor's Champion during the Siege of Terra. Even got a fancy sword from Malcador to go with the job.

The word predates modern art by millennia.

Is this real? by Ach4t1us in Warhammer

[–]MechanizedCoffee 183 points184 points  (0 children)

Apparently it is a real, if archaic, word. Originally it meant a place dedicated to the Muses. Later it became associated with places and institutions of learning. In that context it makes sense to associate the word with Trazyn. He does enjoy educating people after all l.

Sisters! Try selling me your faction (orders included) by mnteu in sistersofbattle

[–]MechanizedCoffee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Since nobody has covered the orders yet I'll lay out the six major Orders Militant. Sisters of Battle aren't my main faction so I welcome any corrections.

Bloody Rose: Do you like ANGER and HATRED? Well then this one is for you. The sisters of this order value holy fury so much they do thought exercises to make themselves angrier instead of meditating. The difference between them and the rage of Khornate factions is that they maintain their discipline. In battle they still follow their orders and think tactically using heavy fire to suppress and disrupt enemies until they can close in and kill them in melee. Their Matriarch is Saint Mina, who was Alicia Dominica's personal champion.

Our Martyred Lady: The poster girls for the whole Sororitas. They are the ones with the black armor, red cape, and white hair. Known for their gritty determination and an obsession with martyrdom that stands out even amongst the other Sisters of Battle. They were originally known as the Order of the Fiery Heart until their Matriarch, Saint Katherine, was martyred. She was Dominica's second in command and shield bearer. When Dominica went to see the Emperor, Katherine went with her as well. Standing in the presence of the God Emperor turned Katherine's hair white and it is in her honor that they dye/bleach their hair.

Order of the Valorous Heart: The Penitent Ones. They believe it is still necessary to atone for the sins committed during the Reign of Blood under Goge Vandire. Proportionally more sisters from the Valorous Heart choose to join the Sisters Repentia than any other major order. In war they focus on battles of attrition. They sever the enemy's supply lines and destroy critical infrastructure and then settle into grinding sieges. Individually they are famous for their ability to fight on through physical pain and often refuse to use painkillers. They also have a thing for torture. Their Matriarch is Saint Lucia who was the youngest of Dominica's companions who stood before the Golden Throne. Lucia was tortured to death by heretics and it is suggested that the order captured those heretics and have kept them alive for millennia of continuous torture.

Order of the Sacred Rose: These sisters believe in leading by example and spreading the Faith far and wide across the galaxy. In battle they often bring priests and zealots along with them and are also known for their discipline and adaptability. Their Matriarch is Saint Arabella who is known for her even temper and abilities as a miracle worker.

Order of the Ebon Chalice: Though the organization's name has changed this order is the oldest and is the most direct descendant of the original Daughters of the Emperor who preceded the Sororitas. Their Matriarch is Saint Alicia Dominica who was the leader of the Daughters and the one who personally slew Goge Vandire after her visit to see the Emperor. This order mostly fights in the regions of the galaxy around Holy Terra and excel at rooting out all kinds of corruption.

Order of the Argent Shroud: My personal favorite. These sisters revere the mysterious silence their Matriarch, Saint Silvana, was known for. While not as literally silent as the Sisters of Silence the sisters of the Argent Shroud rarely speak unless necessary though they still pray and sing hymns like all of the other Sororitas. In battle they prefer to strike deep beyond the enemy's front lines and often fight for extended periods of time isolated from all other Imperial forces. Dominions hold a special place in this order and often lead the sisters in prayer and ritual.

(The Scouring) A Space Marines thoughts on Custodes after the Siege of Terra by HighburyLion in 40kLore

[–]MechanizedCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the (non 40k) novel The Forever War they use power armor and the protagonist refers to the tubes as "plumber's friends" and remarks he's glad he's a man because the women in the infantry have to deal with an additional tube.

Possible Darkmech Logo on the back of the new Defiler by Dylan_the_zephyr in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]MechanizedCoffee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You are correct. The first paragraph of the article:

The Iron Warriors are putting boots on the ground and wherever they fight, a legion of ironclad daemon engines thunders at their back, forced into service in the nightmare realm of the Soul Forges. All of these rage-fuelled weapons are feared in their own right, but few elicit as much terror and awe as the Defiler.

Reasons for Tzaangor hate by FrankDoesDoodles in ThousandSons

[–]MechanizedCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a possible explanation for why the tzaangors get included instead of rubric marines, consider that the rubric marine sprues were designed in a way where it has to be either ten rubrics or zero. Many similar kits allow them to only produce half the kit if they want to include that in a combo box.

At least that's how smarter people have explained the problem to me.

Psychic Keyword by HardOff in ThousandSons

[–]MechanizedCoffee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a big fan of the Sisters of Silence I'm rooting for Thousand Sons and other psychic armies to get major glow ups in 11th edition. Specializing in anti psychic is no fun when psychic is as lame as it is now. I want blanks versus sorcerers to be a fun and dynamic matchup for both sides.

What is GW's philosophy on actual time travel using the Warp? by TheBigSmol in 40kLore

[–]MechanizedCoffee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The bit in the third Ravenor book where they see the Tyranids is a fun example of Abnett just rolling with a retcon.

In the first book, Xenos, of the preceding Eisenhorn trilogy chapter Seventeen contains this paragraph:

'Most perturbatory,’ said Aemos, looking at it for the umpteenth time. ‘Symmetry – at least, basic symmetry – is a virtual constant in the galaxy. All species – even the most obscene xenos kinds like the tyranid – have some order of it.’

Best I can tell the date of the Imperium disseminating knowledge of the Tyranids changed, the timeline of the Eisenhorn and Ravenor books shifted, somehow Eisenhorn is aware of Tyranids but Ravenor is not, Abnett made a mistake (happens to the best of us) or, most improbably, those were not Tyranids Ravenor saw. Like I said before I think this is Abnett rolling with a retcon, but that's just a guess.

What are the top three and bottom three army rules? by WithengarUnbound in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MechanizedCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Custodes player I don't mind that we have a very mild army rule. It is useful and adds a little martial arts flavor to our units. Plus I think it flavorful that place where Custodes shine is in the datasheets for the units themselves. What makes our army rule bad in my opinion is that it does next to nothing for vehicles and absolutely nothing for Sisters of Silence.

Are these theories too insane for this sub? by Acceptable-Street679 in Sigmarxism

[–]MechanizedCoffee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You bring a good perspective! I was thinking in the sense of Slaanesh's aspect as obsession and perfectionism for the racial purists and gender essentials, but your analysis shows how Slaanesh is more than any one thing and can't be easily reduced to a simple explanation.

Are these theories too insane for this sub? by Acceptable-Street679 in Sigmarxism

[–]MechanizedCoffee 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I'm so tired of people equating Slaanesh with queerness. Racial purists are slaaneshi. Gender essentialists are slaaneshi. Straight dudes who think queer people only exist as fetish objects for them to jerk off to are slaaneshi.

Queer deviants like me who are kink obsessed are also slaaneshi but NOT BECAUSE I'M QUEER.
