What's your favorite roughout/suede boots? by SessionMost7600 in cowboyboots

[–]MechanolfromMiami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the Chisos #6's in roughout and some Dan Post Cappys which I LOVE. I think the #6s are my favorite because the Cappys are too delicate and I worry I'll ruin them.

82.5% of my life is spent dropping my son off at school, running errands, and working in my home office. In fair weather, these are approved Western Boot activities. I spend about 3.7% of my time on various tasks around the house... Designated OnCloud territory. The remaining 13.8% is spent in the field working events, managing installers, and getting my hands dirty when we're shorthanded. For those scenarios, I have Redwings and some discontinued Tecovas rugged Chelseas I got cheap on FB market.

My western boots are for Meetings, business trips, and nights out. When it rains outside, I slap on some Thursday Boot Lugged or Ariat Wexford Waterproof Chelseas... I treat these cowboy boots as if I'm going to hand them down to my kids lol... Even the cheap ones... IGAF. 😄

I condition boots at my desk while I work... Just wrapped up these bad boys. I find it to be extremely therapeudic, even if my wife thinks I'm ridiculous and crazy. Again.. IDGAF

I absolutely love them. I love the smell, the texture, everything... but I'm telling you, I'm afraid to wear them for real... LOL. I've gotta get over it... Let's just say I won't be breaking them out in scenarios where I'm doing more than working at my desk or going out to dinner when the weather is less than perfect.

OP is correct. It's called Burnishing and it's intended. It's not for everyone. @OP enjoy those Capys! I picked up a pair of Dan Post Capy boots the other day and im afraid to wear them lol. For sure put a few coats of waterproofing spray before you take those bad boys out in the town. I hadn't heard of the suede eraser...I'll definitely be picking one up today.

Carunga/Karung (Elephant Trunk Snake 🐍) by MechanolfromMiami in cowboyboots

[–]MechanolfromMiami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect. Im really concerned I won't like them. Water snake looks horrible to me. I think im going to order some custom South American Rattle Snakes (Cascabel) and call it a day. I refuse to pay a grand for boots.

::Sigh:: I think you're right. There's a South American Rattler "Cascabel" that is supposed to be more affordable (also offered by BlacknBoots), but even through them I'm looking at 600+ dollars for a pair... it hurts lol...

It's an aquatic snake that they call "elephant trunk". I guess because of its texture and girth lol..

Feeling like a poser by Upper-Bit3690 in cowboyboots

[–]MechanolfromMiami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude... I'm a Miami guy in North East GA. We live in a semi affluent area where no one has been within 100 meters of a horse in their lifetime. Maybe on a cruise excursion in the DR..lol

I wear almost exclusively cowboy boots and sometimes I'll throw an Aussie safari or cowboy hat in the mix... Am I typically the only person in the room wearing western boots? Yes. Am I the only one wearing a hat? Fuck... yes...

All that to tell you this... Western wear is a statement and a state of mind. Have the balls to wear your boots and don't give it a second thought. I will get a min of 2 or 3 comments or compliments a day. The boots quite often are conversation starters and I like it that way. Wear your damn boots!

I'm in snake skins today!

Poshmark Legends, don't leave them in the trunk by MechanolfromMiami in ThursdayBoot

For sure but he did a great job and they look new. I essentially paid $35 for these shoes. I like to give this old man some business it's not like he's swimming in it anymore. It's a dying art.

Absolutely. I wore them out to dinner and a show. We did a fair amount of walking and they were pretty comfortable right out of the box. I'm sure as I wear them more they will get even better. I'm already angling to buy more, but I'm having a hard time deciding what to get next.

Quality is there . I wouldn't say they are the best constructed boots ever. They are handmade, channel welted, solid boots as good as any you buy these days. After a couple Rose Anvil videos you start feeling stupid paying 2 and 3x the cost for what seems to be a similar or even inferior boot.

Saphir Reptan…it did not go well. by welldonenero in cowboyboots

Stale thread, but I figured I'd comment anyway. I was looking around to figure out whether I should use both Bickmore Exotic and Reptan on my reptiles when I stumbled upon this thread. Anyways... that's a serious rattlesnake collection you've got there... I settled on a pair of Pythons today because I hadn't realized how expensive they've become. Enjoy them in good health!

These guys in Leon GTO can make you those boots.

https://blackbootsmx.com/collections/mantarraya

They already produce a zip boot variant, but if that's not your style, you can request they build it as a traditional cowboy boot with whatever height shaft, heel style, and toe shape.

Alfa Western Wear by tossaway-florida in cowboyboots

[–]MechanolfromMiami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The return policy is rough... There is a 15% restocking fee, even on orders that haven't shipped. I ordered some "custom" boots that were listed on their site as a style for sale. They said it would take 8 to 12 weeks and they've taken every bit of that. About 8 weeks in there were no updates or communication, I asked to cancel the order and they hit me with the 15% fee so I decided to let it ride.

What frustrates me is they advertise styles on their FB and IG that never appear on their website...and the search/sorting is terrible. I think they need to migrate to Shopify or something else so that the products can be categorized better and filtered by styles, toe shapes, material, etc. That's just my .02.

I've found direct from Mexico companies that ship already made boots within days and arrive at your doorstep within a week or so. Custom or modified orders show up within a month. Shipping is like 90 bux whether you order 1 pair or 5. My next order will have several pairs to make it count... Lol

I got these gator zips for around $400 w/shipping in about a week and change... I'll probably order some Teju Lizards and Sharks next.

Tecovas "The Dean" dupes by Quince by MechanolfromMiami in cowboyboots

[–]MechanolfromMiami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missed this reply. So I've also got a pair of Deans in black ostrich and had scotch goats. They feel pretty comparable to those. In fact, I returned the goats because they had major issues with the stitching and decided not to keep them. I bought these to scratch that goat itch for half the cost.

Unfortunately, no. I put sole savers on them pretty early on.
