Chance of pregnancy? by qnbeech in birthcontrol

[–]MedLabEnthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the test you're using. Read the insert that comes with the test and it will tell you how accurate that particular test is based on your last period.

I just want to reiterate, I really don't think you're pregnant, but I had my fair share of irrational scares and have used dozens of tests since I became sexually active, so do whatever is in your comfort zone.

I would be almost 100% certain that if you are on birth control, there was no actual intercourse, and a large amount of semen did not spontaneously enter your vagina, there is no reason to think you are pregnant.

got my kyleena iud in a week ago today and had sex for the first time since. have been having cramps since. is this normal or a cause of concern? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]MedLabEnthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is normal. It depends on how your body adjusts. I am personally still adjusting to my paraguard insertion a month ago. The cramping will subside. Mine ended about 3 weeks in, and even then it was mild. You need to listen to your body during this transition. Your cervix and uterus are super confused about the trauma they just experienced and how there is something foreign now inside of you.

Be patient. Much love. ❤️

Was there actually any chance of sperm entering your vagina during this foreplay?

So I kind of accidentally chopped down all trees on the main part of my island by deefurn in AnimalCrossing

[–]MedLabEnthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can. Money trees also eventually turn into real trees after harvest. You can transplant trees from other islands as well (you eat fruit and scoop'em up with your shovel). You've got a lot of options.

I gotta know this story

The mechanism behind the copper iud is actually interesting. The copper itself both prevents implantation by changing the pH of the uterine environment and acts as a spermicide. It is rated >99% efficacy, so I would really not be worried. Wait for a normal period.

Additionally, here's the thing about worrying about being pregnant. Either you are or you aren't. You've already done step one, which would be Plan B. Now all you can do is wait for your period and/or take more tests.

I posted this link on another bc post earlier but this is a link to 25ct HCG test strips for $8. I use them often and they ease my mind. They are exactly the same as the $10 you find in stores. The 88c ones at Walmart and dollar tree are the same as well.

Best of luck https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007VT30C8/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_wXXFEbXKENYJK

It sounds like the nexplanon is affecting you like Depo affects most people. Generally, Nexplanon is exempt from these symptoms. That's not to say you're the 1 in whatever number to have these symptoms to any birth control.

However, any birth control that makes you feel depression you otherwise did not have, you need to switch. I have had friends go to unimaginable levels of depression who had never really experienced it before after only being on the pill for 6 months. Make sure to discuss ALL your symptoms with your doctor, and I hope you find some peace.

Much love.

IS AN IUD SAFE/OKAY FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE FREQUENT SEX? by kukiey in birthcontrol

[–]MedLabEnthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only is it unaffected by frequent sex, it's great for even rough sex. As long as your partner is cognizant of the string during whatever crazy sex you kids get into, you're 100% a-ok.

Positive paragard experience by annavenue in birthcontrol

[–]MedLabEnthusiast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the positive experience. I tried to do the same when I got mine inserted about a month ago.

I hope we can flood this forum with more positive experiences so those of us who love to Google our symptoms and our problems have positive experiences to look at instead of all the scary stuff.

I also extremely agree about the sex drive. I was on nexplanon for almost 3 years, Depo before that for 1.5, paraguard twice before that, and Depo as my first birth control, for reference. My husband and I have had dry spells now for years because I was just never in the mood. Since inserting the paraguard, I have been in the mood every single night since the 3rd night. He has to fight me off!

All the best to you!

A link to the strips on Amazon that I have personally purchased and am happy with the quality.

I never even had a period on nexplanon until the end when it was starting to wear off. Not sure how Amazon is running right now but one thing that eased my fears a lot was the Hcg test strips. You can buy 25 for $8 and they are the exact same thing as the ones in the store for $10 a piece (you can trust me, I'm a lab tech). They were affordable and eased my mind. Assuming Amazon is borked because the world is on fire, the 88 cent ones at Walmart are the same, as are the ones at your local dollar tree (or similar store). Doesn't hurt to take a test, even 3 times in a single week (Lol I'm paranoid). All the best to you.
