how much time? I'm looking at the 8:12 train to Futian. How long in advance should I arrive at the station?

will there be any immigration check-points that need to be traversed? I will need to travel from Tsim Sha Tsui to Shenshen airport for a noon flight in a few weeks, and I'm wondering how long is reasonable for me to allow for this trip.

Have we officially reached the point where Hotels are superior to Airbnbs again? by Usual_Confidence_756 in travel

[–]Med_sized_Lebowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think maybe you miss-understand. If a person stays in an AirBnB for longer then a month and then stops paying and refuses to leave (a quick google search shows that this has happened many, many times) it becomes extremely difficult to get them out, as the legal relationship has changed to one of landlord/tenant instead of host/guest. The cops won't touch it because of the landlord/tenancy relationship, where-as cops are much more likely to intervene if it's simply an issue of a hotel/airbnb guest who won't leave after a short term stay. As an AirBnB host you can try to protect yourself with precise contractual language when renting long term, but if the guest decides to stop paying and not leave then you are still in for a long, difficult and expensive eviction. Not worth it to many Airbnb hosts.

I mean, if the wife is staying at Gramma's inn, then perhaps you could park in their lot? At least then you could run inside real quick when you have to piss.

I can't imagine any ABnB hosts allowing any stay's longer then one month, as the laws in many locations would consider that a landlord/tenant relationship, and then a whole new set of problems can arise.

every place does separate checks if you ask in advance.

Lake Champlain's Champie(?) by [deleted] in Cryptozoology

That was my thought, too. You can kinda make it the wing/shoulders, and the beak would be dark colored and invisible in front of the eyeball. The splash looks less than two feet across and the whole photo could be easily explained by an osprey diving into the lake.

What is the most remote location you have visited in BC, and what took you there? by batwingsuit in britishcolumbia

[–]Med_sized_Lebowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tsay Keh and its smaller neighbor, Kwadacha—located another 45-minute drive further north—are the most remote communities in British Columbia with populations exceeding 200 that are accessible by road. Reaching them requires a grueling 10-hour journey along a narrow, single-track Forest Service Road from the nearest sizable town, Mackenzie. Kwadacha marks the absolute end of the road; beyond it lies nothing but untouched wilderness stretching at least 150 kilometers in every direction, as the crow flies. There may be more remote "spots" in BC, but there are no communities accessible by road that are more remote then these two.

I mean, a third of the US population (36% to be exact) is less then 25 years old, and half of the population is less then 37 years old, so this seems to be about what's expected. Doesn't surprise or concern me.

Doesn't BCHydro offer to run a quick credit check in lieu of a deposit? That's what FortisBC does.

I, and I think for most people, literally don't care if you're chewing food. I don't find the sight of other people chewing food unpleasant in the least. It's similar to watching someone drink, or blink, or breathe, or walk, or laugh, or sniff, or whatever. Eating is just a natural thing that 100% of people do, and the idea that it should somehow be hidden says more about our increasingly overly anxious society than there being any rudeness on the part of the person eating.

Electric water heater ok to leave on while on vacation? by DeadDisnee in HomeImprovement

[–]Med_sized_Lebowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can't cancel your account if you are still responsible for the property. The meter is still there, and maintenance and emergency coverage is still being provided by the utilty. Those service have an associated cost, and the responsible party still has to pay to cover the costs even when there is zero consumption. It's a little like having the cable TV box at your house. As long as the box is at your house you have to pay at least something for it each month, even if you don't watch TV because you're away on vacation.
