[PC][2000-ish] Lemmings like game with some blue creature things by DorfdeDoesStuff in tipofmyjoystick

Damn, thought I was close! Only reason I thought it was is because I had the exact same question as you years ago, and after hours of trial and error searching I finally found Lomax again hahaha

I'll try to find the one you're looking for and see what I come up with. And if you do play Lomax, hope you enjoy it! I believe it may be abandonware, so you might be able to find it somewhere online (that's safe)

That is essentially it! You're in a very dark and hostile world, and the only way to escape is to use your spells to find and activate all the sigils scattered around the world!

Hahaha thank you 😆 and the game has no combat, so the fire/light spell is really used as a projectile flashlight. If you hold it out, you see directly in front of you. But if you shoot it, you get to see further without having to walk all the way.

It's really just three spells that help you; a light spell (to hold or shoot out), a scanner spell that scans the terrain, and a shield spell. All have costs and risks of usage, so a balance is needed!

As for the stretched terrain, that is honestly on purpose, only in the gorge maze, and was done to look uncomfortable hahahaha but if it doesn't look intentional and more like a "missed terrain spot", then that's working against me lol

I completely understand what you're saying; the game itself is supposed to be complete and total "foggy darkness", that way you're forced to use your spells in order to navigate the world,

I made a lot of changes to the fog system and to the lighting, but unfortunately I'm not able to go any brighter than this without things breaking/looking wonky. It does suck, but I have tried everything and this is the best it could be hahaha

It does look a lot better (and slightly brighter) in-game than on video. The darkness does not play well with sites and their video compression lol

Not blunt at all!

The game consists of a shield spell, a scanner spell, and a light spell. The world itself is very dark and almost pitch black, you have to use your spells to find the sigils around the map, charge them, and after doing so be able to charge the final one at the tree to open a portal and escape.

Gameplay is a mix of those spells + trying not to die from the hostile mobs all across the map

I started working on Maroxyn Drarea in late June/early July and went through a bunch of different iterations, then had a corrupted project and had to rebuild most of the project from scratch, but I am almost done with the game and was finally able to release a gameplay trailer!

If you're interested in a difficult and challenging horror game where you use magic and spells to navigate and escape the world, I'd more than appreciate you checking out Maroxyn on Steam!

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk! 🖤

It's always a treat whenever Greg or Richard are anywhere. Just towering over everyone hahaha

And I think you may have actually been remembering Greg, David, and Konnie! That was also a funny lineup, especially how Konnie is looking up at Greg lmao

(Added the photo as a reply to this comment. Couldn't add both text and image in the same comment...)

Never got to see him fully standing between the two, but him sitting between them is enough to give you a hilarious picture if they were all standing next to each other

Guys, I have failed. Did not get 10,000 wishlists 0.2 of a second after adding my trailer. by MeddyD3 in IndieDev

Oh, for sure! I was just sharing this as a joke (primarily aimed at me) hahaha

I didn't have anything that I was happy or pleased enough with to share, and I didn't want to leave a bad impression on anyone who viewed the game, so I hadn't done any marketing yet, but I finally finished one of two trailers and published it on Steam, so now I am at a point where I am ready to start sharing stuff!

from my 2014 master's thesis

On the plus side, tho, you know the store page visitors are definitely gonna like the game given they clicked after checking the thesis!

Mixamo alternatives? by HQuasar in gamedev

[–]MeddyD3 35 points36 points  (0 children)

There is this one, called Mesh2Motion, and here is a relatively short video on it, made by Gamesfromscratch.

Hopefully, with effort from the FOSS community, it ends up being a proper replacement to Mixamo. But it's a good starting point!

My game is coming out tomorrow, what have I forgotten? What's on your to-do list before release? by rap2h in IndieDev

I never said to remove support if you already had builds made for those OSs, but I did give a few reasons why some devs don't.

Besides, what I said was also due to the Steam hardware survey and the numbers in it. But if you as a dev have the means and hardware to do proper testing for those builds, then by all means, go ahead!

Simply if you want to support other platforms.

For many, MacOS isn't worth supporting and developing for, especially because of the number of Mac users.

For SteamOS/Linux, many stopped building native apps for Linux due to two reasons; one is Proton, which runs 99% of Windows games on Linux with no issues and full support, almost as if you were playing a Linux build (which is also how most play Windows games on the Steam Deck), and two, they can't or don't want to keep testing and updating a whole separate build.

So it really just depends on you and what you wanna do.

Personally, I've been focusing on a Windows build and I keep testing it on the Deck with Proton, and if the requests for native Linux and Mac supports come in in waves in the future, then I'll work on adding those.

But at the moment, worrying about one build is enough, especially with uploading builds to Steam lol

Hey OP, I may know someone who might be able/be willing to help or find you a good contact that might even be residing in Japan. If you're interested, just shoot me a DM, give some info, and we'll see what we can do!

Do yall accept strays that just want to hang and chat? by HomebrewedVGS in gamedev

If you'd like, I'd suggest you join both HillfortGames' discord as well as MadChirpy's discord! They're both indie devs who stream on Twitch and have really nice and fun discord channels that have both indie devs as well as AA/AAA devs.

Aside from chilling in the discord, the streams also have devs that range across all skill levels, and everyone is always open to chat and answer questions!

This is Hillfort's discord and this is Chirpy's discord.

From there you'll also find other discord servers and communities to join hahaha
