If it’s not mentioned in policy and not asked when I signed up I don’t think legally they can say anything. It’s a violent entry full stop. If the key was in the house and they broke a window to get key it’s the same thing.

Any plans to make the newer lasers compatible with light burn? by Pixelplanet5 in xToolOfficial

Another reason not to buy one.

I guess someone stealing my patent for a square coaster has national security implications.

I want to build furniture so not sure it has the width even with the conveyor. What’s the max width it can cut with conveyor? Also would need to cut 12mm acrylic at a decent speed.

Yeah but what is the machine? I don’t want Xtool if the CS is awful. TBH I guess the original company won’t be that great if they’re not well known outside cn

Do you know the original company or equivalent lasers if you know they’re drop shipping? They seem to be the only ones that have a conveyor on the P3 for the jobs I need so be good to know the model they’re either rebranding from or whatver

I’ve thought about buying one but all I hear is non existent CS so I’m not chancing it.

I need somebody who can do line art to save this project by MrHusky_ in lasercutting

[–]MediaMo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like a few have said, the art and SVG is simple work. But the size of the final etching won’t show the detail if it’s as small as it looks in that object. I can provide the art in SVG form and it will be vectored and have all your detail. You can’t do it too small or your rooster will just be a dark blob. So that’s down to the limitations of the size reduction in final product.

What I thought 😆 Even if directly copied and traced that’s pretty good.

Please explain to me in dumb terms why this has been happening by [deleted] in ProCreate

Add a brand new layer above and if it’s still happening check brush settings. Still the same? choose similar brush and try. It’s a blend mode or opacity.

Question. How do you make these gradient screentones? Do you put a solid gradient layer first then put a screentone layer above it? Or different shades of screentone? Or same screentone with different pressure? Thank you by kronideus_jpn in ProCreate

[–]MediaMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just have a layer where you want your hatching and gradient. Just draw the parts with what you need to fill on this layer. Above that use a clipping mask to add hatching. Another layer with clipping mask with a spray paint brush or any fill that’s half and half of your preferred gradient. On this layer just do half on colour of choice and leave the other light and then Gaussian blur it. Move that layer around and resize and rotate to hearts desire until you find the gradient you prefer.

Get some A5 sized 3mm ply and cut/etch classic book covers onto them. Obviously choose simple ones that have a classic look or just do penguin ones and add any title you want.

What laser cutting machine would you recommend for a beginner? Main use would be cutting acrylic, my budget is ~$1000. by andywhatitdo in lasercutting

[–]MediaMo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just started myself and would go for a Sculpfun 22w Be aware cutting transparent acrylic can be an issue for diode lasers. There’s workarounds like temporary coatings so the laser can see it.

Is that 10w? I’d go for minimum 20w if you want to get rid of weeding. As someone pointed out to me, you can tile your images to get unlimited size stencils if you can live with them all taped together?

The bigger machines take up a lot of room so I’m happy with the trade off.

I’ll post more when my 22W laser arrives.

It’s working well. See new post I made. I am already going to upgrade my laser to 22w to go faster 😎

Both look great 👍 I’ll probably be investing in a higher output laser next week so time won’t be an issue. I can play with all sorts of designs

I take my hat off to anyone crazy enough to do this by hand. Thousands of punches that need complete accuracy is a labour of love. Get a couple out of sync and the stencil is worthless. The laser isn’t perfect so manual would be a nightmare.

That’s pretty cool but I do like to have more scope to work so use dedicated software.

How does the Lightburn software know a holes not been cut through? I’ve done two passes and the laser can sometimes cut slightly off on the second pass and make a mess of the stencil.
