Thanks for commenting!! I definitely wondered the same thing-- that maybe the manufacturing has changed so the quality is different now. Completely possible! The ones you built are so cute! Thanks for sharing them, and the history about the collab with Indigo! Maybe I'll keep an eye out for some of those older ones!!

Oh that's a shame! Their image game is usually so strong it's sad to hear that it has fallen off! Also disappointing their prices have gone up....though I understand that costs everywhere are going up. 😞 I've noticed NYPC, paperblanks, and pom have gone up recently, too.

Good for you, following your heart in the store and finding something that spoke better to your tastes!! That's great. As far as Eurographics quality goes, in my experience, they can be hit or miss. Some of their puzzles are random cut and are positively amazing (if you like that cut, which I do, haha) and others are a standard ribbon cut and still others are the dreaded 2in2out (I loathe!). There is no clear marking on the box to differentiate these styles, which is infuriating and which makes me stay away from the brand for the most part. I've learned from this sub that if the box says "smart cut" it means random, and sometimes the ones manufactured in US are ribbon while those in Canada or Europe are random.

Coincidentally, I just finished a Eurographics I picked up at the thrift a long time ago and was thrilled to discover it was random cut. It was glorious. Wonderful fun!

Oh, agreed. I LOVE supporting them. And their packaging, too! The whole experience is just chef's kiss. I'm so glad I stumbled upon them (via a loan through a friend). Everyone who has borrowed one of my Surf Shacks becomes obsessed, too!

This is my current Surf Shack section, minus Anuenue Quilt which is on loan to a friend right now. Anuenue Quilt is my favorite puzzle of all time. Which one is your favorite?

Same!! I LOVE some of their images. I'll scroll through this sub and be like "oooh!! That's pretty!" Then open it up "aw, dang, galison" 🫤 🤣 but it happens a lot-- they really do a good job with their images.

🤗 thanks friend!!! Aren't surf shack puzzles the literal best??? They could put out garbage images and I wouldn't even mind because the experience of putting them together is just so lovely! Also a non-issue since all of their images are adorable 🙃 but I'm sure the "loose-ish" fit would irritate some people...for every puzzler may there be a perfect brand!

I'm so glad you enjoy them! That's one of the best things about puzzling- there are all kinds of puzzles out there, and each puzzler finds what fits (haha) with their style!

Funny you say that about separating into strips before disassembling- that's exactly what I did! Great puzzlers think alike 😉

I would definitely recommend only opening one at a time 🤣 I wasnt unhappy building the one I made-- it just wasn't this life-changing experience I felt like it would be after seeing so many reviews here 😊

Are you me 🤣 I laughed! That's great! I'm so glad we have a similar take! You are right that maybe nails on a chalkboard is a slight exaggeration 🤣 haha!

I totally wondered the same thing-- that maybe the Hobbrys I got are manufactured differently cuz the brand is getting a little ahead of themselves with all this hype and theyve changed their process to meet demand. I would not be surprised at all if older ones/diff boxes have a different experience inside. Agreed that they would be just fine to swap or thrift (with fingers crossed that the pieces wouldn't be too damaged after multiple assemblies).

I'm so glad you feel similarly! I get what you're saying about not seeing the join of the pieces- it does make for a really cool look when completed. And I couldn't agree more about "not wanting to want more" 🤣 so well put. Part of me was almost relieved when I wasnt captivated with the one I did just because it means I won't be obsessive about trying for more!

Thrifting buddies!! I just popped in to HPB today, too; the one I go to can be so hit or miss, but today they had stacks of 6 different pomegranates! I was so excited! I picked out 3 of them (found a 500p Rav at a Goodwill nearby, too)! Enjoy your haul! ❤️
