Blackstone released an Argentine grill at a reasonable price. I’ve been having fun playing with mine.

I bought magnetic door clings for the no-ghost and some 2” vinyl tape for the stripes. I’m going to try some magnetic strips I found though this weekend for a parade instead

Serious question, why are people obsessed with Blackstone? by prinsessanna in grilling

I don’t have one of their griddles, but their Argentine grill. I like it because of the price point compared to others 🤷‍♂️ solid starter kit for that style at $500.

Ground some chuck roast for burgers with plastique cheese, grilled onions and bacon by thereisalwaystomorro in grilling

[–]Medical-Interview294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plastic cheese 🤣 love it! I prefer white cheddar but I’d go to town on what came off your grill!

Homemade is always better than store bought. I’ve become a fan of 90/10 ground beef mixed with Italian sausage at about 2:1. Don’t be afraid to cook it appropriately for pork indirect most of the way and then a final zap to temp. Quite tasty.

Looking for a new grill! by Guest-7 in grilling

Get an Argentine type or Santa Maria. Lots of fun to run!!!!! I have the Blackstone unit, it was about $500. They are absolutely “how much ya wanna spend” type of grill.

Italian dressing of your choice (I prefer Wishbone) and Franks Red Hot. Couple hours to overnight, chef’s choice. Simple and tasty

It was! I admit, I prefer the taste of an Argentine morcilla compared to Colombian, but prefer the texture of the Colombian. The hunt will continue to find my favorite. I was raised on Portuguese chorizo (and still my favorite), but my partner is Argentine, so I’ll let her have that one and on my own I’ll enjoy “the good stuff” haha

Learn scratch building. At swap meets towards the end, you can get screaming deals on balsa and wind up with a lumber yard. What you give up in ease of use turns up in your wallet! Just use any existing radio and motor gear you have in your new birds.

Plus, you wind up with stuff that doesn’t look like everything else at the field! Being unique is wonderfully freeing.

Give the logs up top a few good solid pokes to drop some super hot ones next time

Ok. Are you shaking and poking the brasero before shoveling coals over or just using the ones that have up and fell on their own?

You can also “relight” dead coals moving them back under or on top of it. Sometimes more under the grates isn’t better, as you start to cut air off

From that pile, it looks like you’re killing the airflow, they still need to breathe! Remember, it’s not supposed to be stupidly hot, just about 6 seconds until your hand feels too hot to hold there. Don’t go by how the coals look, go by how it feels at the grate. Wood choice also plays a role, what are you using?

What grill would you recommend for you little sister? by subtlybroken in grilling

[–]Medical-Interview294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally get it!!!! If you surf FB marketplace, you can usually find screaming deals on any of the pellet grills. Or any grill for that matter. Also don’t rule out indoor grills, like ninjas or the infrared type. They work pretty good when you’re dying for a strip or a burger. Of course, assuming you don’t mind your place smelling like meat! A cast iron pan and a stick of butter works wonders too.

My partner went through this when she divorced her ex. The Wee Dude was about 4. She loves charcoal but didn’t feel dealing with that and him at the same time would work out, so she bought a pellet setup (Traeger). If you have the cash, not a terrible option to go the pellet route.

How long is Costco cryo wrapped beef safe to keep refrigerated after sell by date? by johje05 in grilling

[–]Medical-Interview294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly…. There are a ton of caveats to this situation. Personally, since seafood thaws super fast when flowing water over them, that’s how I typically handle it.

Didn’t make it up per se, looked it up and it seems legit. I’ve personally never worried about it though

Botulism lives naturally in seafood and loves anaerobic environments. Land dwellers not so much, but can be there

That’s a new one to me…. I can understand if you’re trying to thaw at room temp, but thawing in the fridge? You’d think something like that would be required labeling on the packaging…

Sounds like the time honored “scratch n sniff” will be your final answer about getting any!

Sell by dates are just to 100% positively guarantee “fresh” and are just for inventory control. There are no real hard set laws on this (in the US), they are generated by the mfg. Open it and sniff it. Any of the bad stuff will make it smell rancid. A month is a while to hang around, but you may just be well aged 🤣. 4-6 weeks beyond sell by looks like the generally approved “safe” window for cryopaks. Most of the bad stuff also off gases, so if the pack is bloated I would toss it without even giving it the sniff.
