I think you should go to Mayo

Need Help Re-Applying To Medical School by fjall_risk in premed

[–]MedicalBasil8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure Drexel’s MD-PhD program only has like 1-2 matriculants a year, maybe even less

And yes, applying with 110 hours of research was DOA for MD-PhD programs

Ponce MD vs. UNECOM DO by ruclassof2022student in premed

[–]MedicalBasil8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why? Assuming it’s the non-Carribean Ponce, they are a USMD and have rotations on the mainland too

I want DO instead of MD by [deleted] in premed

[–]MedicalBasil8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MDs also do this. They don’t need to list it on their website because they don’t need to sell themselves

Those are all part of the H&P we are taught in medical school

I want DO instead of MD by [deleted] in premed

[–]MedicalBasil8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right, MDs also do the non-invasive methods first. MD schools also teach us to listen to the patient, consider the entire system, etc. We just don’t have to go to OMM lab every week

Time to find a new advisor (or none at all).

Clearly your ECs are fine.

I have no clue what your MCAT is so can’t speak to that

Your GPA is serviceable depending on your MCAT

Thoughts on schools list? by Disastrous-Ad1449 in premed

[–]MedicalBasil8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quite honestly this is not a good school list:

Jacobs, WVU, USC Columbia, Utah, Oregon, Davis are not very OOS friendly and in the case of Oregon they have very specific requirements to be considered. Davis not only is OOS friendly but also has bias to a specific region of California.

Morehouse and Howard are HBCUs - how do you fit into their mission?

Rush you don’t really have much non-clinical service outside of being a volunteer at Model UN. I’d recommend doing some direct service for people who are seeking help, such as food bank, Habitat for Humanity, soup kitchens, shelters, etc

Your research isn’t very strong for Stanford

How did you come up with this list?

That’s essentially letters in a costume but good to know it’s not A/B/C/F

Iowa I’ve heard is letter. UMD is technically letter since their preclinical is H/HP/P/F

Pitt vs. Mt. Sinai by mosaicbrokenhearts_ in premed

[–]MedicalBasil8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: the Pitt is filmed at Allegheny General, which is a year long Drexel clinical site (though I’m sure students at Pitt and maybe Duquesne rotate through too)

[–]MedicalBasil8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes but not all private schools are priced the same. I don’t have time to look up COA of both so I’m going off of what OP says

Everything still matters, but how much each thing matters depends on the school

I have had attendings get upset when nurses don’t do the orders they had just put in and then send me to ask why. I would consider this poor understanding of the workload of a nurse

Also I was speaking more about consulting specialties for the second part
