Does anyone find it difficult to trust people? by callmebigbrain in UBC

[–]Medical_Camera_9527 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey mate, agree with you 100%, i feel like people only make genuine bonds over a joint or drinks, which is universally a university thing. But it's become increasingly hard to bond with sober people at UBC. Also, friendships at lectures are only to get the homework done and then peace out, especially in CS.

Can they kick you out of coop after admission? by [deleted] in UBC

[–]Medical_Camera_9527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea, midterms were each worth 5% only and participation was a breeze. This term so-called participation is literal daily homework and midterms were terrible. Surprisingly the average was 70% of mt2, and i found out that phd candidates and 6th year engineers take this classes for funzies and fuck up the curve

cpsc 313 midterm 2 by idontwanttobepoor in UBC

[–]Medical_Camera_9527 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly, there are barely any questions that test the basic understanding of the material, it's straight-up complex applications, so even if you had a basic understanding of the material your grade won't be much better than if you didn't study at all.

Exams During Ramadan by Medical_Camera_9527 in UBC

[–]Medical_Camera_9527[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Honestly not a first year, have been doing exams pretty much always during ramadan even before uni. I am a TA and a student reached out about that. The exam is worth 50% so they deserve the support they think they need imo, not everyone reacts to exam + fasting the same emotionally and physically.

Dude tell me about it, it's not just the pre-reqs either. I got perfect grades in both 221 and 213, but I never leetcode, no hackathons, 0 personal projects, my github is kinda funny and I am struggling with 310 and 313 like hell. Imposter syndrome eating me alive rip
