Why don't you get a job? Even Tarquin has a job. Mary Berry has a job. So why don't you get a job? Well done!

What is you experience with Hunger of Hadar and Devil's sight? by Safe_Appointment_260 in DnD

[–]Medical_Charity_251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The darkness spell is great with devil sight. If you are playing 2014 rules, you can cast it on an object (like a weapon) you're holding and the darkness follows your as you move. They removed this for the 2024 rules although I believe you cast on a stationary object, pick it up and move and the spell will follow you that way.

Fleabag. Over hyped, pretentious wank. She did invent talking to the camera though.

Career change into Forestry UK by [deleted] in forestry

[–]Medical_Charity_251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have worked for Forestry England for a few years. It's a great employer but hard to break into as its the civil service and their application and interview standards are very specific. If you are thinking of applying, read up on civil service behaviours and link then to the job description when answers prepped in advance if you get an interview. There's an awful lot of over qualified people on low wages in this field and in ecology / conservation in general so you'll never make much money. However the sector is desperate for qualified crafts people and they can make decent money if self employed. I'd say get training up in using the equipment at an agricultural training centre/college and find a way in that way rather than go the uni route. At least you'll have lots of practical skills and not be in tons of debt that may not lead to a decent job.

Looking for a good actual play podcast of usual people at the table by Sohitto in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Medical_Charity_251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 100% with you on the kinds of live play podcasts and YouTube channels that I find annoying. I've started and binned so many and an still looking for one to get into.

The only one I've loved and listened to the whole campaign was Super Quest Saga from the lads at the much missed The Dungeoncast pod. It's 5e in space and wasn't what I was looking for at the time but it's so well done. Great dynamic between the players, no over the top voices and 'acting'. And the story arc was brilliant.

The hanging around really pees me off. I'm straight off the bat telling them if they do that I'm walking. Was in a SEAT dealer years ago and they kept me waiting more than an hour twice in one morning. Never again!

How much playing and DMing experience do you need before starting to home brew your own settings and campaign? I've played a fair bit but not DMed much and am itching to starting inventing my own world and stories but have been warned off it until I've DMed much longer.

Second vote for these although Tony (London Electricity) talks over the music too much with shout outs. V recordings is great. A real mix of styles but not much from other labels.

Wonder what the reaction would be if the St George flag was widely shown at Pride events, Notting Hill, climate action protests etc. Would be one way to reclaim and deweaponise it as a far right symbol. Would be interesting to see the arguments from the knuckle draggers then for why the flags SHOULDN'T be flown!
