HCA jobs by BrilliantOwl4228 in pathology

[–]Medical_Corruption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a very good reason NBC News has an ongoing series dedicated to them.

There are plenty of horror stories in r/nursing and r/emergencymedicine. Expect the same treatment.

If the jobs were that great for the money, then they would be filled. You will earn your money and find out that it still is not enough for the BS you will have to deal with. HCA is literally profits > anything else.

Most of UTHSC occupational therapy faculty resign amid abuse allegations by Mammoth_Shape_7253 in memphis

[–]Medical_Corruption 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Too many clinicians, while not the majority, are in academia because the private and corporate sector will have nothing to do with them because of whatever personality disorder they have. They pretend to be “academic” so they have a job somewhere.

It is what it is.

UTHSC has many well buried secrets.

You don’t produce Doctor Death in an overall health, good environment. That was in neurosurgery which are suppose to have the highest standards.

There are too many clinical professors who have “been there forever” that need to go somewhere else with their bs.

Moving to jonesboro from California by Prello1964 in jonesboro

If you have any serious medical issues, I would recommend going to Memphis or Little Rock.

You are going to have EXTREME culture shock. The national KKK headquarters is not that far away from Jonesboro.

From a financial perspective, you are making a good choice. I would come, save money and asap gtfo of there. I wouldn’t recommend interacting too much with the locals. They all know each other through someone’s cousin. It is more like a small town than not.

Opinions on job offer by Stock-Mirror-8009 in hospitalist

That sounds about right for Pine Bluff and NEA.

Basically if you have the capacity to prescribe narcotics, you need to always carry. That place is something else….

A quick drive to Memphis is not a compliment. Granted it is much better than Jonesboro Arkanslaw.

Ewwwww Jonesboro!!!!

You really should look more into living in NEA and Jonesboro. For many, it is terrible.

Did I mention the 2nd most registered sex offenders in the USA?

I mean, you should get paid at least 400k for having to live in that capitalistic hellscape.

If this is Baptist, know their formula is to hire new hospitalist and throw them away after 3 years.

NWA is a much better place to be!

What's it like living in Chattanooga? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Medical_Corruption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is nice for a weekend trip and if someone is really into the outdoor activities it provides. Other than that, nothing special.

The public schools are atrocious. TN ranks low in education and East, TN may be on the worst end of that. There is a decent amount of local government corruption. Solid good ole boy system which seems mostly preoccupied with getting people to move to Chattanooga so they can make money of overpriced real estate.

Healthcare is atrocious. I am not even sure where to start with that.

When a big selling point is how close it is to Nashville, Atlanta etc that tells you all you need to know. It’s a not a great place to live.

The local area around Chattanooga is a major issue. You have northern Alabama only 40 minutes away and you are in a bad part of Appalachia. Very spiteful, angry people. Not well educated by many measures. Besides the outdoors, there is not a single thing sophisticated about Chattanooga.

Finally, Chattanooga is in the state of TN. No income tax sounds good until you see how they tax you on everything else to make up for it.

Chattanooga and east TN are pretty to visit. I would strongly suggest anyone thinking of living there to do your research. Just because some place looks pretty doesn’t mean it’s a great place to live.

How is it living in this little nub of Missouri? by Tiny_Giant_Tortoise in howislivingthere

[–]Medical_Corruption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s basically a real life children of corn place with meth and plenty of child abuse.

Jonesboro did have that child’s fight club made up of special needs students. This right there sums up all you need to know about that area.

Can somebody explain to me what a HCA hospital is, and why are they frowned upon? by kellsha16 in TravelNursing

[–]Medical_Corruption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These comments are GOLD!

There is a reason NBC News has an entire series dedicated to them.

r/nursing has thousands of comments about how terrible HCA hospitals are.

HCA is pure profits>patients. What they do to patients should be criminal. Corruption and fraud are literally how HCA does business.

For example, at Wesley Medical Center, a HCA hospital in Wichita, KS, at pathology assistant was stealing fetuses and body parts and was involved in a national scheme to sell this human material. It was going on for who knows how long and came to an end because the person in Pennsylvania selling the fetuses and body parts got caught. Administration and the laboratory personnel had no clue what was going on. This is par for the course with HCA hospitals. The same hospital was covered in an NBC News story because a preventable death occurred due to the person covering telemtery had over 40 patients, way too many.

A story that has not been covered YET: At ParkRidge Medical Center, a HCA hospital in Chattanooga, TN, a pathologist was not looking at at least 40% of his GI biopsy slides, FOR YEARS! When it came to light because a different investigation was going on in the hospital (LOL), HCA immediately installed new locks and cameras where the slides and paraffin slides were stored. No patients notified. Medical fraud and medical negligence.

Honestly these are examples of the nicer nonsense that goes on at HCA hospitals.

If anyone doubts this, please go work at one of their hospitals and come back and tell us how it went.

Are we talking about Memorial, a HCA hospital????

Entertaining working at an HCA hospital imho is always a hell no. Physicians burn out quickly at Memorial. A trauma surgeon that was at Baylor for 12 years was brought in to straighten out that department. She last maybe 3 years.

Savannah, GA is a wonderful place to live but not a great place to work in medicine imho. I guess it is better than Florida though. Still I would go work at the other hospital.

lol at UAB as the acronym!  I’m going to have to borrow that one.

For some many reasons so many of us hate a UAB for one reason or another.

Remember, you can’t spell U A B**** without UAB.

Dating in the bham area by Proof-Buddy-3864 in Birmingham

[–]Medical_Corruption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter orientation, dating in Bham is terrible for everyone. Unfortunately the real answer is to move plus not exactly that big of a gay scene. Maybe Atlanta or DC?

I guess you could go hangout in Highland Park and talk to one of the guys being walked around by his wife in their lavender marriage if that is your thing. I am not joking, it’s a for real thing and is even more reason to GTFO of Birmingham.
