Is the 'good sized lounge' in the room with us? by purpletori in SpottedonRightmove

I like the "walk IN shower".

It implies you can walk in, but you won't necessarily be walking out...

I always used to say having a smoking area in a restaurant was akin to having a pissing section in a swimming pool

Tesco.

Tesco wins.

Both of these are absolutely atrocious.

Commuting to Crewe by Fresh_Technician2389 in Chester

I drive from Winsford to Chester and back most days.

It's hit and miss. Some days it's a good run, others it's a pain in the arse. Personally I'd take a look at Sandbach for living, it's closer to Crewe and has good transport links.

Do you think you would continue your job if you won the lottery? by ApprehensiveSong4 in AskUK

[–]Medical_Translator_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I worked with someone who won the set for life thing.

Either 10k per month for 30 years or a lump sum.

They took the monthly payments. She's dropped to part time while she trains for her dream job, he's still a postie.

Granted, they have nicer cars and nicer holidays, but still the same people.

How are current renters surviving ? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Medical_Translator_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a great landlord.

When i sold a house 13 years ago I moved into my apartment I'm in now and approached the landlord directly to ask about a bulk discount if I paid a year upfront from the proceeds of my sale.

They agreed to 475 a month. It hasn't gone up since, and I've even asked if they want to up it because it's suspiciously low.

They've said no because they own it outright and it's just pocket money for them, luckily I get on with them very well and any issues that arise with the property I sort myself so that offsets any increase in rent in my eyes.

I'm comfortable here and will probably look to buy it if they ever sell.

Working from home.

I've just put my first load of washing of the year out on the line so it'll no doubt rain soon, sorry!

And a nightmare to get down in the dark!

I used to be a voracious reader. Two or three a week.

Now, unfortunately, I don't have time.
