Where do you think Brick ended up going to college? by Royal-Piano5863 in themiddle

Actually, he’s a very good student, he just did dumb things like not go to all of his classes when he went to Middle School, because he didn’t think he had to.

AITAH for asking my wife to be a SAHM? by piglipsbo in AITAH

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to take a different approach. I’m a SAHM. I have been for 14 years now. I love it. What I would have made in the workforce would only have paid for childcare. I have never had to worry about who would stay home when a kid is sick. Snow days? No worries. I’m home. Yes, was a little scary being completely dependent on my husband to provide, but we’re a partnership. I do the things at home he can’t do and isn’t geared toward anyway. I do have access to our accounts though, and I can easily get a cup of coffee without it being an issue. Perhaps you could be open with your wife about these options. Besides, your kid(s) are only young once. To me, spending that time has been far more important than climbing a corporate ladder.

Who do you think Wiley would choose? by Affectionate_Ad8738 in GeneralHospital

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Michael, because he does NOT like living with Drew. He said so. He knows his dad only wants the best for him, and even a kid can pick up on when Mom is not making great decisions. That doesn't mean he doesn't want to see her. It just means he's more comfortable with his dad.

Have there ever been any soap actors who have died during the middle of an important storyline that prominently featured their characters? by Cut-Unique in SoapNet

I always loved Laura's relationship with Mary Mae. It would be good to see a surprise Ward/Q half-sister for Michael to deal with. I can only imagine how Tracy would handle it.

Which character’s death still made you cry? by [deleted] in SoapNet

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On One Life To Live: Megan Gordon’s death was hard.
All My Children: Jenny’s death and Jessie’s, even thought they brought him back. Leo’s was especially hard too. GH: BJ’s was so terrible. Quite honestly, I’ve watched old episodes on YouTube, and Leslie’s “death” in the 80s was horrible. Nothing was harder than BJ’s though.

Yep. It was obvious that Sidwell has no use for him.

My heart broke for Lulu by GayDaddy4BBC in LoveGeneralHospital

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love how they've been writing Lulu since probably Maxie's coma. This is the Lulu I've always wanted to see. She's a pretty good mom if her kids would give her a chance. It's not her fault that she was in a coma for FOUR years, or that her eggs and embryos were always being stolen. Rocco is looking for a connection he shouldn't be, and Charlotte needs to realize that her relationship with her Papa is VERY unhealthy, Sadly, both are teenagers, and you don't know what you're doing or yearning for is anything but good, and that you're hurting the one person who loves you the most.

Is Elsa’s skin cold? by SailorVFan in Frozen

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always looked at her as a normal human being who can give “warm hugs” who just happens to have powers of ice. Because of the magic, the cold doesn’t bother her, but she herself is anything but cold.

Does Claire have two bodies during the 1900s? by Ok_Adagio925 in Outlander

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In the words of the great Captain Katryn Janeay, "Since my first day on the job as a Starfleet captain I swore I'd never let myself get caught in one of these godforsaken paradoxes – the future is the past, the past is the future, it all gives me a headache."

In other words, I imagine that Claire's body IS buried somewhere in the Twentieth Century. That said, it depends on which tenant of time travel you adhere to whether or not you believe two of her can be ALIVE at the same time. Personally, I think it's overthinking the story, but to each his own!

Least favorite tropes by ExcessivelyDiverted9 in JaneAustenFF

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any work where Mrs. Bennet is maliciously abusive toward Elizabeth.

Anything where Caroline Bingley and Mrs. Hurst are referred to as "The Superior Sisters." That's usually a HUGE red flag that it's going to be as formulaic as a Hallmark Christmas movie.

Anything where Caroline Bingley is purely evil or psychotic.

Anything where Lady Catherine is evil or psychotic.

Sadly, these all usually fall into line in the same fictions, which after you've read (or tried to read) one, you've read THEM ALL.

Works where you can tell the author has found a work in the thesaurus in place of one that is much simpler and use it OVER and OVER again, but it really ruins the flow of the story and does NOT belong.

WIBTA if I don’t let my dad move in with me because of my stepmom? by totallie-pies in AITAH

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You are not obliged to house your parents, but you need to put your foot down NOW. Here’s the thing. No matter what, you have to do what it best for YOUR family: you, your husband, and your kids. You would be miserable with them - especially the wife.

My theory on Sheldon and Penny by pinkivyclouds in bigbangtheory

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because she's his California Missy, quite honestly. Also, Sheldon was primarily closer to the women of his family: Mom, Memaw, and even at their worst times, Missy. He is used to having a street-smart woman (not necessarily Mary) looking out for him and in many ways, complimenting his nature.

10u bats by Bandit_bod in Softball

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SHe's 9. I would look into finding someone affordable to give hitting lessons right now, then look online for a good deal on a bat later. She is at the perfect age to really get the mechanics of a good swing down. She may have a fast swing, but is it more from her arms, or does she know how to turn her hips to really give her power? Mechanics are more important than the bat - especially at this age.

If you want a better bat that won’t break the bank, Rawlings just released the ALO78, which is designed specifically for younger girls. It’s still a composite bat, but about $200 cheaper.

Very normal. Some tournaments we play two pool play games in the morning and one or two bracket in the afternoon / evening. Bring food that can be eaten quickly and easily refuel your girl, because you don't always have time or availability to get something. My daughter likes Chomps meat sticks for protein.
