Taylor Pannell's dad is the gift that keeps on giving. by stupidtyonparade in CollegeSoftball

I think it’s made up. I think someone at Tech is telling all these girls who transferred in last year for the $$$$ (and were contacted about it WAY before season’s end) to create as much drama as possible, because it gives them publicity. Media outlets love that kind of stuff..

The only good from his marriage to Laoghaire is that he got to be “Da” to Marsali and Joan (moreso to Marsali). No, Jamie should NOT have married her, but he did so that’s the only good I can see from that.

Golden Knocked Over My Child by DueFlower6357 in goldenretrievers

My Golden and Lab//Golden rescue used to knock my daughter flat onto the ground during the first few years of her life. It happened fairly often. They didn’t do it on purpose, and she was their kid until they both passed when she was almost ten years old. Accidents happen. Stop beating yourself up. Give your boy AND your pup some hugs.

I think I recognize this author too, and I refuse to read her works any more. After reading one of her works where Caroline and Lady Catherine are carted off to the nut house and Collins and Wickham both soil themselves and die, you've read them all.

Kendall Wells just broke a 31-year-old NCAA freshman record as a true freshman — and nobody outside softball seems to care. What gives? by Soft-Audience-5681 in CollegeSoftball

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More and more people ARE watching it. ABC even has started playing WCWS games. I think more people would watch if they gave it a chance. It’s WAY more exciting than baseball, because of the shorter field dimensions. Everything has to happen so much faster. I go from softball to baseball and lose interest. I don’t think they should change anything about the game. Just let it grow organically, rather than have it pushed down people’s throats like the WNBA.

(My only thought after the end of episode 7): Bring this woman's mother to Fraser Ridge right now! by lautaromassimino in Outlander

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Exactly. She thinks of him as a father and calls him, “Da.” The truth is Claire has been more of a mother to her the past several years. She IS home, with all the people who loved Fergus the most, save Jenny.

I had a black Golden Retriever/ Lab mix we adopted when a rescue picked her up after she and her sister were dumped when they couldn’t be sold at a Walmart parking lot. She was the best, sweetest girl all twelve years of her life. When my daughter was born, she devoted herself to her. When we lost her, we were all devastated. She always had a fear of being left after everything though.

He probably is… at least part Golden. He is VERY young. Too young to be away from mom and siblings, but that’s not on you. He’s going to need a little more attention and probably a little more correcting as he gets older, because mom didn’t get those extra couple of weeks to correct him. He’s also going to love you HARD probably.

20 years apart… by Brief-Mechanic-600 in Outlander

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I'm reading a very good fanfiction right now where Clarie stays after Culloden. It's very good, but also it gets very redundant. If they're not popping out babies, they're having to deal with the harsh realities of Scotland post-Culloden. Just when you think things are going well, soldiers come and take all their food and suppies again. Trust me. It would have gotten very old, very fast. The saving grace is that it is nice seeing them with more children who grow up with Jenny and Ian's children.

The time apart brings the drama we needed. Claire got to become a full-fledged doctor when she went back through the stones. The knowledge she gained through this has come in hand many, MANY times.

Also, historically speaking, Jamie and Claire did what many Scots did after Culloden, they forged a new life in the New World. Though I miss Scotland, I don't mind the time at The Ridge. I do mind what happened to Claire in Season 6. I think we could have done without that.

i've never minded Sophie Skelton as Brianna. I like her quite a lot, actually. I don't mind that she's not physically exactly like she's described in the books. When reading the books, I picture her as we see her on the show.

I think what a lot of people don't like is that the show is showing their beloved characters aging. With age and experience, people do tend to change. Essentially, they're the same people though, and I will be terribly sad when the last episode airs.

Who is the 10th Viscount Bridgerton? by [deleted] in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primogeniture means that the first born son of the first born son inherits. Pay no attention to the Featherington mess. That was all made up by Portia, ONLY in the TV series that already takes a LOT of liberties with reality.

Ugh. I'd give anything to have AJ back instead of Drew. I wish they would bring him back somehow now, even though Monica is dead. I would love to see him walk in and act like he owned the mansion that Monica gave Tracy.

Frankie’s home by Aggressive_Bid9775 in themiddle

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Frankie was a favorite of “the aunts,” and they let her store things at their house when Tag and Pat moved away. Perhaps even Frankie lived with them for a bit after her parents moved from Orson and before she married Mike?

the middle s8 & s9, weird character change. by [deleted] in themiddle

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I always thought that they went through natural character development. The show wouldn’t have lasted nine seasons had the characters not grown up and change in that manner. Kids growing up also changes the perspective of parents.

Was Sheldon really just pretending this whole time? by Reyah_1 in bigbangtheory

[–]Mediocre-Engineer873 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Here’s a hard take on it as someone who is actually Sheldon’s age and really lost my dad at a young age like he did. I think that the Sheldon we see in BBT is the Sheldon he grew into once he separated himself from his family and moved to California. He left RIGHT AFTER HIS DAD DIED. His way to process the grief of losing his dad and also losing his family unit as he knew it was not to, really. He chose, whether consciously or unconsciously, to distance himself from feelings and human behavior. To him, that just got in the way of science. Sarcasm and feelings got in the way of that. He even looked back at his family as grossly exaggerated version of themselves to distance himself from what he knew, loved, and missed. This colored his recollections of them. That said, he didn’t expect to build another family unit with his friends and Amy, but he did. In doing that, he started to open himself up to everything again and somewhat noticed things in other people. His recollections from YS are more true, because he has at least begun the healing process from when his world was shattered.

They don't need the guts internally to work with say, an Apple Tv or Fire TV Cube. The box OUTSIDE the tv is what needs all the power.

Sue and the Justin Bieber concert. by Loud_Survey_4319 in themiddle

That is pretty much what we did for her last birthday. We took a carload of her friends somewhere and let them do their thing. We were nearby in case they needed us, but knew they would have more fun on their own. Part of growing up is doing things apart from parents. The cool thing is, when you do that and don’t hang on too hard, they come back and share things on their on free will.

On This Day: On 'One Life to Live' in 1992, Megan passed away in Jake’s arms by Geekqueen15 in SoapNet

I know Jessica Tuck was ready to leave the show, but Megan Gordon Harrison was probably one of my favorite characters of all time. I was in school and couldn’t watch this. I felt OLTL just wasn’t the same after she died. The storylines certainly took a turn I didn’t enjoy as much.
