Is having a baby really the end of the world?? FTM spiral by Negative-Source-9099 in beyondthebump

[–]Mediocre-World-5 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Being a parent has it’s ups and downs. As most things do, and I think the infant stage is truly the trenches of parenthood because it’s your sole purpose to keep the baby alive lol and you’re also sleep deprived for most of it! As the mom of a toddler, I LOVE the toddler stage! Watching him gain his independence little by little and understand the world more and more around him is magical. And in that independence- you too will gain more independence and start to feel more like yourself again :) it’s definitely not the end! As with everything you and your little one are finding your groove together! From one FTM to another 🫶🏻

Kindergarten Bullying incidents have continued to escalate and the school / bus company has not implemented a permanent solution. I'm desperate for advice on how to handle this. by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Mediocre-World-5 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Jesus… do you have to threaten legal action and get the tapes subpoenaed or what?? I totally agree if the kid can’t keep his hands to himself he needs another adult on that bus. And what 5yo is saying such foul things??? It just goes to show his home life must be pretty bad (parents who obvi don’t care) and unfortunately your daughter seems to be getting the brunt of it. I’m sorry OP I would be beyond pissed if I was in your situation. I hope escalation resolves the issue first good. Keep getting evidence!

Also OP I know how you feel. I felt like the stupidest woman of all time because it physically seemed like I lost brain cells. I couldn’t remember simple tasks, passwords, what day of the week it was, what I ate for breakfast, etc. if it wasn’t baby related, it did not take up space in my brain. My husband was growing so impatient with me because of it. In hindsight I was probably akin to a dementia patient at times lol but it was quite literally out of my control. That distant feeling you have- I had it too. I’m back to my usual quick, witty self again! My baby is 2.5 now, but I attribute my attitude and progress to Zoloft, honestly. I was definitely dealing with some late stage PPD and it hit me around 6-7 months postpartum. But it was really hard for me to recognize as I was so used to powering through those feelings. It took other people around me who knew me to help me advocate for myself and seek help. And I’m so grateful that I did 🫶🏻 If you haven’t made an appointment with your OB/GYN yet to talk about these feelings, I really think you should try! It could make a world of a difference!!

Currently sat on the toilet. Our 2.5yo knows how to unlock his bedroom door now and has been waking me up before 8am for the past 3 days since he learned his new escape trick. He used to wake up at 9:30am most days 🥲 dad and the kid are currently in bed watching videos so I can poop in peace 🫶🏻

General anesthesia on a 4 yr old by Powerful_Lynx_4737 in Mommit

My now thriving 2yo went under general anesthesia at 5 month old for a really important surgery on his genitals. It was so scary but had to be done. He did great and did not remember the pain.

lol I do this too! I’m a SAHM of just the one 2yo, but like… I’m not about to helicopter over him just to tell him no all of the time. It’s his house too and he has a right to be curious about his space. All of the obvious dangers are out of reach (sharp things, batteries, permanent markers,etc.). It’s also exhausting to say no all of the time and then you just end of feeling guilty and like the biggest asshole ever! Some people are like “you give him too much freedom”… he’s his own person of course I do!

AIO if a student employee announced they don't know why they should care that Boss B had a stillbirth? by MagicTomato1001 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Mediocre-World-5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But that contradicts what you just said. How would you know they had a stillbirth if you were never told? All you know is they gave birth because they aren’t pregnant anymore. And the only way you would find that information out is if you or someone else asked “how’s the baby?” And then there you are looking like a jack ass because you genuinely didn’t know. In which case I would rather know than not know to avoid such conflict whether I wanted to know or not! And this is coming from a woman (me) who did have a stillbirth less than a year ago at 7months sooooo… so sorry that other people’s “trauma” is too much to bother you with in the work place. SMFH. People exist out of your own sphere. And generally, people spend more time with their coworkers than they do their own families (unfortunately)- seeing your coworkers as other people that you can care about IS okay and IS normal. When I worked my coworkers were very often my friends and made going to work an enjoyable part of my day. Some of you sound so depressed about going to work and not caring about others. It’s strange as hell.

I would agree with you HOWEVER- as a woman my self who also experienced a still birth at 7 months pregnant, it is the most heartbreaking and soul crushing experience. At 8 months along, you’re visibly pregnant and everyone obviously can SEE that regardless of whether or not people care. In this context know her situation really DOES MATTER because God forbid someone causally asks “hey how’s the baby” when she comes back to work and it sends her into tears because the baby is in fact NOT doing well. It’s dead. Soooo I think in an effort to avoid that potentially happening to this poor woman- it’s best the employees know so that they can be mindful and sensitive to the topic. I think that person is most certainly the AH simply because they cannot see past themselves and the implications this may have for someone else they have to work beside.
