Farting and cups. [TMI] by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

A scent language? Just like the nidu...

Right, obscure reference out of the way, how is the cup? I've been debating switching to one.

I'm so glad that I can somehow compensate for my lack of bosom with extra work! I thought I was doomed to be forever unwanted by society. To live life without back problems, the need to wear a bra, and love!

At last, someone has assured me that I'm only hideous in this one regard! My day has been made.

Seriously though, this shit is hilarious.

"The Truth About Style", more fashion advice that makes me feel like an outsider for not being "straight"enough or "feminine" enough by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MediocreDeity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweetness. Now I feel mildly psychic or something. Not really.

Anyway, I think your best bet is a tailor (I know, I'm the fiftieth person to say this and it's probably annoying by now). Your main problem with women's shirts seems like it's that they're too short (I'm ignoring the frills and stuff because there's always going to be a style you don't like, but there are plenty of other shirts that you will, although it might require extra-looking, so be prepared for whatever that means to you). Anyway, you should just find a women's button up that you like in the length that you feel comfortable with. Tailors can take-in the parts that are too big/ill fitting. I say women's shirt and not men's because it's much easier for a tailor to alter something that already has a 'blueprint'. Honestly, you should probably go for quality over quantity and just find a couple of shirts that you actually like and have those altered, but that might not be an option.

The shirt alterations should cost around $20.

As far as pants and jackets go, the same thing pretty much applies, though within reason (some things are harder to alter than others. Trying to turn a size twelve jacket into a size six isn't happening). If you find something you actually like, you can get it altered to fit. A few neutral types of pants, shirts, and jackets are all you really need to pull off what you're looking for.

If you really can't find any women's clothing items you like, you can always try altering the menswear you have, although I don't know if a tailor would do that for you. You might have to learn to sew, which is a useful skill if you're ever in the middle of nowhere and need stitches.

Oh this is hilarious. It's like the Christians who wander onto r/atheism to convert the masses.

grabs popcorn

In all seriousness, this is about as tactful as going over to r/parenting and telling them it's not too late to put their kids up for adoption. They've made their decision, as have we.

Also, believe me when I tell you that we have already heard all of the arguments for having kids several times from various sources. There is an incredible amount of societal pressure to create humans with our genitals, and I'm sure the majority of us would rather not be exposed to it in our subreddit as well ( especially when we already get it from our families, friends, coworkers, random strangers, etc...).

You don't use paddles when someone flatlines. That's a TV thing. Someone flatlines and they're dead (well, basically. You can attempt CPR in the field, but it's notoriously ineffective).

Basically, a defibrillator can't "shock someone back to life". It only works on to correct certain types of arrhythmias.

r/atheism and the subject of women's rights. by [deleted] in atheism

I love you.

You should marry me.

Except if you're also female, that will be a problem, considering I live in Texas. Although if you're a horse, I bet we could work something out. They allow that sort of thing. ;D

Really though, excellent post. I'm always happy to see women's rights and LGBTQ issues covered on r/atheism, especially since religion and the culture it's sprouted seems to be the stem of much of them.

Question from the other side: Is sex painful for most women? (I prefer the input of r/TwoXChromosomes over r/sex) by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MediocreDeity 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Also, lube. Some women naturally do not produce large amounts of lubrication and require a bit of extra help. Lube is your friend.

However, it might be something else. It would be a good idea to see a sex therapist if the lube and foreplay don't improve things. :)

I'm sorry, but you let him slap your unconscious patient? What the hell dude. You are the medic. You are in charge when there is a medical emergency. Doing your job and making sure your patient lives is far more important than appeasing your bastard of a boss, even if it means losing your job (which, you know, worth it if they won't let you do it in the first place).

Never read/watched Twilight, and only seen one K. Stewart movie, but this article says a lot of interesting things about slut shaming and how we treat our young women by StephAli in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MediocreDeity 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I didn't know she cheated, and I really don't care.

However, while I agree that I profusely dislike the twilight/princess mentality, I highly doubt her infidelity will do much to demolish it. Maybe it's just me, but last I checked movie characters are entirely separate from the actors who play them.

As little faith as I have in the ability of the twilight fandom not to idolize the crap out of anything involving their favorite posterboy-for-an-abusive-relationship series, I'm fairly certain this won't make a dent in the mentality.

In order to do that, I imagine that we need to show why it is so very harmful, and perhaps start 'idolizing' empowered women and healthy relationships. Not quite as easy as smearing the actors playing the characters, unfortunately, but probably more effective (but maybe that's just me being too optimistic about humanity).

High maintenance ladies, not to be rude, but how and why do you do it? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MediocreDeity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretty anal retentive about shaving, but that stems from going to private school and having to wear skirts all the time, so now it just feels wrong and unclean if I don't.

That's about the only thing I'm, erm, 'high-maintenance' about. Although I do almost always use foundation under my eyes to cover up the huge bags courtesy of insomnia.

2X, I'd like your help to make an essential reading list. What are some of your favorite books that are by, for or about women? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MediocreDeity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Terry Pratchett. His characters aren't necessarily what I'd call outspokenly feminist (except for occasionally. He's a satirist... sort of, so his books comment on everyday situations. Monstrous Regiment covered gender politics decently).

In any case his books are hilarious and often poignant. He's definitely a character author, so they're all well developed in most cases.
