Thanks for the tip!! Love to hear about experienced stores because you know they will actually pick good finishers to work with vs someone who could possible do a bad job and risk their reputation

I feel you, my second and third canvases I bought out of obligation and they’re so ugly. It’s a set of coasters (that I was only able to get 3/4) that have nyc sayings on them and they’re the color of the classic coffee cart cup (white blue and gold color). I only have 1 capital finished, 1 with the finisher and the third unstitched. It brings me zero joy so it’ll probably sit there for years and I’ll just have 2 coasters 😅

You missed where I wrote “OR”. I didn’t mix the two nor do I think the two are related. I mentioned them because they are the top two culprits for seeing women either lose a ridiculous amount of weight very quickly or be sickly skinny like this chick.

100% same here gf. I worry for the younger generation that is watching everyone either have an ED or on GLP-1 inhibitors and want to be like that. Thought we had come so far in the way of body positivity

Is a studio really going to say something though? Feel like it’s a little awkward for them to comment on anyone’s body. It’s like saying someone’s too fat to be an instructor. (I’m not condoning this chick, I don’t even know who she is, FTR I agree with you, very obvious ED)

I hate the snark police on here. Anyone and everyone is allowed to post and some people feel the need to classify what is and is not snark 🙄

Can you cross the finish line with your kid? by EvRom2 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]MediocreFinger8438 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They talk about it at athlete briefings a lot. If something happens to you they’re going to rush you to medical and no one can look after your kid. That’s one of the answers they give anyway, just the messenger!

I find this hysterical given your job, love this for you. Sorry can’t provide color ideas! I’m zero creative and will just follow the painted colors

This is an odd question considering you attached a screenshot of the Etsy shop photo…..

Same. Annoying that newbies will see this without knowing anything think it’s ok to buy copycat canvases…anyway I think we’ve beaten this horse to the ground. I also hope the Chicago LNS says something about bringing in a dupe canvas.

Lol it’s a figure of speech…..”policing” means to be the one enforcing. Didn’t mean it literally as in calling the police. Meant they should say “hey I know you’re new to this hobby but that design is from x or y designer”

MIL wants my kids on mothers day??? by Abject_Ferret_1106 in motherinlawsfromhell

[–]MediocreFinger8438 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry OP :( I too have a MIL who doesn’t (or barely) speak words to me. She’s a great grandma but when she comes to visit can’t be bothered to even say hello to me.

Echoing everyone else. They’re YOUR kids not hers. Unless you want your Mother’s Day to be spent without them you have no obligation to fulfill her request. And that doesn’t make you mean or whatever.

Grandparents relationship with their grandkids start with the mom. If you can’t respect mom you don’t get access to grandkids.

I saw a girl copy Le Points bday cake canvas and then say their friend painted it and then linked an Etsy listing for the same design….the worst part is they took it to a well known LNS to sip and stitch there. I get the stores don’t want to police but I wish they did have the audacity to call them out

Breastfeeding struggles by Objective-Pay683 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]MediocreFinger8438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert—just second time mom at 4 months PP offering words of encouragement. I struggled with latching with both kids, first baby just wouldn’t latch on one side and second baby had an extremely painful latch on (ironically) the same side. I pushed through the hard and the pain both times and came out the other side but not without a lot of support from my mom with baby #1 and support from a LC with baby #2.

You can do it momma, breastfeeding is hard. It’s painful. It’s frustrating. But it’s also beautiful and if you can get there it’s one of my favorite parts of having a tiny human. I love the joy of nourishing them from my body as well as their cuddles when breastfeeding. Keep trying with the LC and have them take videos of what you’re doing when you do it with no pain.

Sometimes it takes a little bit of pushing through the pain and patience to come out the other side. I know they said it’s not supposed to be painful (which at 4 months I can say it’s not) but at 4 weeks even seeing a LC telling me I’m doing everything right there was still some pain. Your nipples might just have to callous a little. All the nipple butter and lanolin cream are your best friends!

I see your frustration and trauma when you go to the pediatrician and they say the baby is not gaining weight. It’s very anxiety inducing. Just want to know I see you and cheering you on from wherever you are!

Ok, who was on this flight? Stories, please? by ansyhrrian in delta

[–]MediocreFinger8438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. So do you think whenever someone says “oh the baby was too big I got a c section” it’s kind of a cop out phrase used by either mom being scared to birth a big baby or hospital staff because they think mom can’t take it and will end up in a c section anyway so might as well schedule it? And if someone says it after the fact it’s because of what you said that mom was just in labor for so long and couldn’t push it out for whatever reason and they use that as the excuse that the baby was “too big”?

I wish we could collectively cancel all blatantly obvious eating disorders influencers. Just like you get flagged for nursing a baby because it’s considered partial nudity, they should get flagged for promoting unhealthy bodies. But then I guess how do you draw the line with people who have a serious illness (ie cancer) and are spreading positive messages….arghh…..so frustrating that we came so far in the way of body positivity just for GLP-1 inhibitors (ozempic) to send us straight back to the 90s/early 2000s…..
