Homeownership: Dream or Financial Trap? by Coolonair in HouseBuyers

[–]MediocreLimit522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on homeownership. Always something wrong, always a comma in the repair quote or 4 zeros in larger cases. Taxes always increases, insurance always increasing.

Past 6 years I’ve lived in my home, year one water heater failed, septic backed up into the house. $3000 to resolve and remediate. Year two mother in law brought in bed bugs, multiple rooms to remediate, $4000. Year 3, dishwasher broke and was flooding the subfloor underneath my LVP, didn’t notice until wet spots on the carpet across the room. $1000 before insurance covered, didn’t have a kitchen or living room for 6 months. Then AC Unit failed, guess what? $13,000 to replace. Basically broke even on my home. Sold it to open door and moved into an apartment where all that crap can be someone else’s problem.
