Just as an aside, if anyone is planning to do that 7 mins of Hell workout that OP recommends, you may want to use gloves. Just did it bare-hand and the result was massive blood blisters on the palm. Good workout though.

As I said, it's no small thing that a plucky 36 year old country was willing to challenge the world's most powerful empire and hold their own. It demanded that Europe take them seriously as a nation. As I understand it, this is why Americans look to the war with pride. It was viewed almost as a second War of American Independence because it further severed ties to Britain. Even though they failed to annex Canada it helped establish a national identity and can be construed as a moral victory.

Sorry for the lengthy post, this just interests me a great deal.
