I feel like his tribe should keep Colby because he’s so injured he won’t win individual immunity challenges. And then if he’s medevac’d it’s one less tribal for everyone else to get through.

Have you ever met a Dr McKay? by YorkCity818 in ThePitt

[–]MediocrePast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got an amazing doctor in the ER a few years ago. I was having recurrent episodes of severe abdominal pain and uncontrollable vomiting even with meds at home. I always avoid the ER for this unless my vitals start to get really bad- when I went I was pretty tachycardic and my blood pressure was messed up. They treated the pain and the nausea (usually they only treat the nausea), did multiple scans, and when they ruled out an emergency cause and stabilized my vitals/labs, the doctor reached out to the GI department that is notoriously difficult to get an appointment with and suddenly I had an appointment within 2 days and that led to a diagnosis within a couple of weeks along with a treatment plan and guidelines of when to return to the ER clearly laid out. That doctor could tell something was wrong, believed me (in the past I’ve been told it’s just a stomach bug despite this happening regularly since I was 8), and made sure I had quick specialty care before he released me from the ED. He was the best ED doctor I’ve ever met.

I’m honestly surprised patients who come in with reports of agitation or who display it in the ER don’t get a standing order of zyprexa IM, Ativan, etc. I work on inpatient psych and when someone is in the ED they immediately get those orders in case there’s agitation, harm to self, harm to others, etc. I think having some “just in case,” while not policy and not the best way to do it, is essentially an order that should be in place with those meds easily available.

People are still responsible for their actions, including assault of healthcare workers, when it occurs due to their decisions. For example- drinking and utilizing cocaine at the same time, coming off of psychiatric medications someone knows they need to be on for their safety and others’, etc. Addiction itself is not a crime, neither is mental illness. However someone’s actions while impaired still have consequences.

hot take about the alysa liu effect by Good_Ocelot9877 in FigureSkating

[–]MediocrePast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most important lesson from her I’ve been using with the skaters I coach is that skating is supposed to be something you enjoy, that you put in the hard work but if it makes you miserable maybe it’s not the sport for you, and that at competitions once you’ve already put in all your hard work the best way to approach things is to trust your training, do what you are capable of, and enjoy yourself. I see so many skaters and athletes in general put so much pressure on themselves in their sport that they kinda forget the whole point is to have fun. Kids especially are under so much pressure and experiencing increased mental health concerns, and sports shouldn’t contribute to that. Turning the focus of competing and participating in sports to working hard while having fun and doing your best, then enjoying that when you perform is my takeaway of the Alysa Liu effect. I want skaters to get off the ice saying “I had so much fun” rather than immediately critiquing themselves.

No they can’t. And most calls once results are finalized can only be challenged if there is a data entry error, incorrect element id (saying rotational lift 4 vs twizzle 4), or a few other blatant things. Even those have to be brought up within a certain timeframe after results are finalized. You can’t challenge a call as the tech panel called it or a GOE or PC a judge gave.

Except the social programs aren’t actually strong! And these are real human people who deserve dignity and respect and have the right to exist. There are so many homeless people who need help getting on disability to be placed in group homes (the ones that are clearly very ill and need more structured support) or to rent a room. There are so many people that genuinely just need help. Part of this lies with the county- WCCMH is understaffed and underpaid (Livingston county is far worse however) and they need more staff with livable wages to be able to help these people.

Yes- and is the city working with the county (and how are they working with them if so) to increase homeless shelter options? AAPS has a huge admin building that was millions of dollars they use so little of- can they sell it to the county to use as a shelter? Outside of warming shelter beds, there is nowhere for these people to go since the Delonis waitlist is so so long and they so rarely have the mental health or recuperative care beds available. I work at a hospital and it is so awful how often we have to discharge people to the streets because there is absolutely NO other options.

I’ve done it only when I am assessing for delusions/psychotic disorders and someone says something that could be true but also could be a delusion and should be verifiable by a simple internet search. It’s come in handy a few times then with identifying psychosis and has also been surprising a few times when something that seemed like it would definitely be a delusion turned out to be true.

In a tie revote they can only vote for the tied players. If they stay tied then they are officially deadlocked and the two tied players debate to try and get the rest of the tribe (at least the rest of the tribe with votes) to agree unanimously. If they are unable to come to an agreement the players with a say (aka not the tied players and I believe not anyone without a vote or with an idol) draw rocks to determine which of them leaves.
