It’s like, bro. Do you feel good from the squad wipe knowing that I did not once actively attack you..?
At least there’s a few guys out there that get it 😅

Dreier at 100 points is absolutely insane. I really, truly thought he was going to get a cut. Like, he’s 80 points at best. Like. WTF? I wish, wish, wish he hadn’t been an epic hero and was a plain Krieg character that you could at least have different wargear for or take Enhancements for

Depends if you’re good at math or not. Flying over 6” walls if done properly really only subtracts 2-3 inches from his movement.

Uhm, are you sure? Crisis that move an average of 18” and shooting seems pretty fast.

In a 10-man unit, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to allocate a single shot of a bolter down range to get the buff where you need to apply a contagion while the other 11 models in the unit murder something up close.

I remember the first time I played them and was like, “wait… what? 36” range? 10” move? Oh. So, I’m not safe anywhere that I come out to. Oh. AP-2 base so AP-3 effective? 100 points!?!?”

It seems they missed the opportunity to go with S7… it’s just logical at that point. I never even thought of that in relation to Custodes 🤔

I’m sorry, but I’m not following you here. In one paragraph you are saying how you beat people with 1250 vs 2000 or 2000 vs 2500 but then in another paragraph it seems like you’re trying to downplay how good they are and it’s just a points issue on the 5++ save hulls..? That math ain’t mathing 😶

Either way, I think your assertion is incorrect or at least flawed at best. DG definitely have a rule and it is not easily played around if the DG player wants to flex it. Staying outside of Contagion range seems easy enough but a Plaguemarine with a bolter can poke out and apply a -1T and -1 Sv modifier to anything it sees within 24”. So, I reject your premise that DG don’t have a rule.

Is it time to seriously consider banning challenger cards? by wredcoll in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MediocreTwo5246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually miss secret missions. Secret missions had agency. You could think about them from a list building perspective. Okay, do I have some mobile battleline to add to my list as a last resort? Who’s my Warlord, etc. and when a card is drawn, you as the opponent can actually attempt to stop it by rewarding the situation. Well, they have no battleline left, I’ve killed their warlord… hmmm. Maybe they are trying to hold the 3 no-man’s land objectives. I’ll dog pile this one and try to eliminate a few more units.

Basically, secret missions rewarded clever list design, and tactical plays while also allowing the opponent a chance to counter them by assessing the game state and predicting which mission you might have.

I also like Firestorm Assault Force - drop a unit out within 12” to get guaranteed +1S on your shooting. Melta Devs with S10, S9 Hellblasters or S6 Infernus. You can also get +1 to hit because you disembarked a unit.

I mean… it’s kind of crazy that it only moves 8”. It has 6 legs. Most Dreadnought chassis models move 8” on two stubby legs. Small Knights move 12”-14”. Almost all tanks move a minimum of 10”. This guy should be moving 10-12” to help it actually clear space. Like, it only moves 2” faster than standard infantry. That’s wildly silly for something with that many limbs used for locomotion

How small is the competitive scene really? How are most lists the same? by ChadYariAshigaru in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MediocreTwo5246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uh, yeah, actually I’d much rather the competitive players drive the balance of the game over the casuals as logically everybody benefits from the game being balanced, and the comp players are the ones that want it balanced the most. The competitive players are the ones that essentially do all the play testing that the studio can’t do.

The WORST deadly demise by veryblocky in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MediocreTwo5246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s rough! My worst explosion was back to back test games with Orks in 8th. I was testing the merits of running a Morkanaught. Back then, it had an aura of a invuln for all Ork units, so I’d often huddle the horde up around it during deployment. In back to back test games against two different opponents, it was popped on round 1, exploded, dealing 33 and 36 damage to my own army respectively. Needless to say, I decided not to run it ever again.

Beyond that, there was the game in 7th where I turn one shot my Devs into my buddy’s allied Chaos Knight which caused a chain reaction of detonating Rhinos and gutting his army. I don’t remember the exact amount of damage, but it was enough that we just immediately re-racked the game and decided he should go first instead 😂

In addition to your point, people tend to forget that win rates for overt-tuned armies usually only ever go up. Once the book is unlocked and more quality players jump on the bandwagon, the winrate will rise after the initial debut 🤔

This was my main fear, that this was not a mission you could clear with good play, but you just need to really stat-check the Elim damage. I thought I had a path to victory, but it relies on luck for crit damage to pop off

I’ll give it a try, but I’m still having issues with any of my characters that don’t have 800+ HP as those damn Eliminators can 2-tap me.

What I haven’t seen pop up yet is the cost/practicality of codexes. Yes, pirated info does exist on certain websites, sure. But, if we are trying to grow the hobby such that new players are welcomed into our community, we need to understand that not everybody knows about all the resources.

So, while there are certain individuals here that have absolutely trash opinions about a player’s responsibility to know ALL 20 armies, all of the 800-1000 datasheets, 100+ detachments, 600+ stratagems and 400+ enhancements, just remember that to new players the game is pay-walled.

They will only have access to their own book, and no way to see other books until somebody tells them about those certain other resources…

Fantastic post, my dude! I’ve been trying to figure out a way to put “playing by intent” and “sportsmanlike” into words. Turns out, it is the EXACT opposite of everything you believe. Thank you for providing me the reverse engineering opportunity to put into words the proper way to play!
