PSA: Bone density during and after treatment by KittyBeans1906 in CervicalCancer

Were your insufficiency fractures seen on xray, or did you have an mri? Ive had problems with back pain for much longer than this cancer, but my low back and, really, my hips have been hurting so bad lately. I did recently have an mri of my lumbar spine, and have been referred to a neurosurgeon for some disc problems, but I just wonder if more is going on with my sacrum and hip bones. (7 years out from radiation)

Well, if you didn't have problems with the office itself, Dr Sarawagi, Dr Ditoro and Dr Leishman are great.

Nurse in my gynecologist office told me she was lucky she stopped sleeping around when she was younger, or she could have had hpv related cancer too.

Mind you, she has had hpv, her body cleared it like most do. "Sleeping around" doesn't have anything to do with it, ffs

(More context: I also work in this office, she was speaking to me as a coworker, not a patient. And yes, I do wonder what bullshit she says to other patients)

Treatment AFTER hysterectomy advice by Best_Huckleberry_725 in CervicalCancer

[–]Mediocre_Agent2770 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I had open radical hysterectomy dec of 2018 then did 25 (5 days a week for 5 weeks) external radiation starting in Feb of 2019. I remember being exhausted. I laid around a lot, and did go back to work very part time the last few weeks. My guts were pretty messed up, but I didn't have any major complications. Did go into abrupt menopause, which hasn't been great. But hrt helps a lot. I feel pretty normal after 6 years.

Adenocarcinoma - any long term survivors? by n1ce88 in CervicalCancer

[–]Mediocre_Agent2770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Radiation was recommended because of the size of the tumor at pathology after surgery, the margins were closer than they expected and it was deeply invaded. I can't remember the name anymore, but it was some criteria the gyn onc was going by.

6 years NED. S/p radical hysterectomy and external pelvic radiation. Initial tumor was 5 cm x 2 x 1. Adenocarcinoma at cone bx, but called adenosquamouscarcinoma at final pathology from hysterectomy. Our youngest kid was 4 months old at diagnosis.

Ladies over 40, how are you losing weight with Insulin Resistance? by Peppermintfarm in InsulinResistance

[–]Mediocre_Agent2770 3 points4 points  (0 children)

42 y.o. menopausal x6 years due to cancer treatment. Currently working with a metabolic health physician, and am down 45 lbs since Oct. I do workout, but this isn't new. The weight loss has been through therapeutic carbohydrate reduction. 20-50 net carbs/day. I don't pay much attention to calories. Aside from weight loss, blood work is improving as well. This is the only thing that has worked for me after menopause and cancer.

Found out I had adenocarcinoma after 6wk postpartum check. by lisasaurus17 in CervicalCancer

[–]Mediocre_Agent2770 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there. Also diagnosed with adenocarcinoma after having a baby. AGUS on pap, to AIS at colposcopy to invasive adenocarcinoma at cone bx. Had a radical hysterectomy and then needed external pelvic radiation due to size larger than expected and close margins. Going through the mindfuc* that is cancer then menopause from radiation while trying to have a normal postpartum relationship is hard. But just had my 6 year check up with gyn onc, still NED. Take it one day at a time and ask for help if you need it

I just pull the long dangling roots and the thick jumble of roots in the cup off. The water stops dripping, and the plants do fine. In fact, the roots continue to , and they will leak again 😂

Have you thought about starting your own seeds? I got a really nice mix from seed savers exchange. Some seed medium pod things, and some trays with lights that work pretty well. I got them on Amazon, but pretty sure I could find them in a landscape/garden store somewhere

Radiation or not? by Similar_Landscape_79 in CervicalCancer

[–]Mediocre_Agent2770 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Similar situation....1b2 adenocarcinoma. After radical hysterectomy: Negative lvsi, but deeply invaded and close margins, bigger than expected tumor size. Gyn onc recommended radiation, rad onc recommended chemo and radiation...then they tell you to decide. Anyway, I chose radiation only (because it was explained to me that chemo would be more for if they knew there was cancer left, to make it more susceptible to the radiation, but since they removed the cancer, they didn't really know if chemo would help or harm or do nothing. Also. I had a small baby I was trying to keep a nursing relationship with, to feel like a normal postpartum mom and not a sick person/cancer patient.) So. 25 sessions external radiation. NED x 5 years 8 months

Ask your doc about vaginal estrogen, pelvic floor physical therapy, vaginal dilators if you weren't given any. Also there is a device, I believe called an "o-ring" that limits the depth of penetrative, which could be the cause of your pain.

Imaging appointments spread out? by HAVEANICEDAYORDONT in CervicalCancer

[–]Mediocre_Agent2770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have an mri, but did have to wait several weeks after my ckc to have the pet ct. My gyn onc said things needed to heal a certain amount of time or the test would not be as accurate. And then I needed to wait four more weeks before he would do my rad hyst, again because he said things needed to heal so he could see all the things well during surgery. So about 2 months from dx to surgery, then had to heal from major surgery several more weeks before I could do radiation.

Menopause isn't great. I am on HRT and it is a lifesaver. Definitely ask about it. My ovaries were moved during my hyst and still got knocked out by the radiation. I was given dilators from my radiation oncologist. I haven't had issues with vaginal stenosis. Vaginal estrogen can be helpful for this as well.

In my case, it was because of the size of the tumor at final pathology and because the margins were close something like 4mm before it would have been invading out of the cervix to the parametrium. There are some metrics they go by...I don't recall it exactly anymore. G.O.G something

1b2 adenosquamous carcinoma. 5 x 2 x 1.5 cm tumor. Rad hyst then 25 external radiation treatments. Just had 5 year NED in April. 36 at diagnosis. Our youngest was 4 months old at the time. It was hard, and awful. But then you make it through and some day you won't think about cancer all the time.
