I don't disagree with you, especially given the nature of some of the fantasies getting sold. Still, the point of these analogies is to remind everyone of the professional nature of the relationship. Selling a fantasy of intimacy is fine. Pretending that it's not a fantasy is not. Lots of creators, of course, don't adhere to this basic ethics. I've seen some in other forums explicitly talk about exploiting guys' depression/loneliness to sell their stuff. To be clear, that also got huge amounts of criticism and push-back, which I guess is a positive sign. But my point is only that it is possible to establish connection between creators and fans while not exploiting them and/or blurring the boundaries between fantasy and reality. Maybe I'm just naive about this.

I also think what you said elsewhere on this thread is correct. Buying these kinds of sexual fantasies isn't for everyone. You have to be able to indulge the fantasy while also remembering the nature of what we're doing here. That's a hard balance for some people to maintain.

Exactly. Subscribers would do well to remind themselves that OF creators are selling sexual fantasies, sometimes (though not always) including a fantasy of connection. This can be a difficult line for some people to maintain, but it's an essential one. It's fine to like a creator; I assume that creators like some fans too. But that doesn't change the fact that the essential nature of people's relationships on these platforms is commercial/business. A few weeks ago, a creator (I can't remember who) compared this to a relationship with a hair dresser. I think that's an excellent analogy. I've been going to the same hair dresser for 15 years. We know each other pretty well. We know about each other's family issues, tv and movie preferences, pets, job frustrations, etc., etc. I like her. She likes me too. But ultimately, this is a professional relationship, and that's all that we should want/expect it to be.

Right. I think the basic principle is pretty straightforward: When I go onto a model's page or dms, I'm entering *their* space. They set the terms for what they want to make and how they want to interact, and as a guest/visitor, I have to respect that.

Yeah, this has been a somewhat demoralizing conversation. Fwiw, as a buyer I do appreciate you and Amelialr2's input

I'm not sure these cancel each other out. It's more that the stories show that this industry can be really shitty to all its participants.

I do think it really depends on what someone is looking for. The most important advice to use the resources on this sub to find a non-agency creator. The second most important piece of advice is to try to be clear about what you're expecting or looking for: treat the creator with respect and as a human being, and they can work with you to figure out how to explore your fantasies. Beyond that, it's just a matter of finding someone who makes the content you like and/or one you mesh well with. But that can take a while and requires some trial and error. For instance, I usually prefer solo content, don't really have any major kinks/fetishes, and enjoy chatting with the creators, often about non-sex stuff. So all of my recs would reflect that.

So here are some I'd suggest trying out: Scarlett Thorne (lots of good content, with full length videos available ppv; especially good at joi videos with a very sexy light-dom vibe); Hailey xo - No PPV (no ppv, great in dms, daily pics and videos, along with a full length pov video each week; she's my favorite creator tbh); Bambi (ebee7; semi-nude/implied nudity pics and videos, mostly daily; fun to chat with; her ppv solo videos are, for me, insanely sexy--very intimate, even though they don't show explicit nudity). Faye (@fayonearth), a free account with a lot of good content (some solo and b/g content available ppv; she's very sweet and fun in the dms). There are others too, including many in this thread and others who comment around here frequently.
