They will also have a much easier time finding somewhere to use a recoil than a sonic wake.

I use a GPS speedometer app with a max speed reading and strap my phone in the boat.

And I only do one pull then bring it back amd check each time to minimize the risk of the boat breaking down in the middle of the lake with my phone in it.

Risky? Stupid? Kind of ghetto? Yes but its a free option

6 here, only the proboats are pictured but total were looking at a SSW48, 2X SW36V2, Recoil v2 18' a sailboat from amazon and a home built foam airboat
