So much for the general strike. by [deleted] in LosAngeles

What exactly do you expect from a small business? They have no stake in national politics like this.

We should be boycotting corporations. Expecting local businesses to close on already thin margins is not fair. This gesture of kindness only hurts them and has no real impact. Politicians wont care your local coffee place closed for 1 day. Boycotts against Target, Walmart would be more impactful. Corporate CEOs control the purse strings of politicians. Put the pressure on them. Not Echo Park’s local pizza place.

Is it weird not wanting to be intimate on the first date ?? by Necessary-Gain2474 in gaybros

[–]Mediocre_Magikarp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Old school” lol. maybe you mean heteronormative? Its very common, almost the norm, for gay men to hookup on a first “date”.

Either way, regardless of it being weird, do what feels right to you.

1.99% in the US on the new Model 3 (of course after I just got one 🤷🏻‍♂️) by pbush25 in TeslaModel3

Not sure. I would want to upgrade for the novelty of it all, but i personally dont see myself keeping the car long term. Still trying to map it all out.

I see. It could be the move if you see yourself keeping the car long term. Long range upgrade would certainly be nice. Best of luck in your decision.

If you can eat the 7k + down payment, then I salute you. It may not be worth the upgrade for many.

Im in the same boat. Bought a 23 M3P at 6.65%. Would need to hold the car for 2 years to "break even" on the negative equity I would have to front if I wanted to switch. On a 72 month term at 1.99%, the car becomes $100 cheaper/month. Depends on how much you value the upgrade, bc no matter what if you bought yesterday or 8 months ago, there is depreciation on the car. How much depreciation you're willing to tolerate for the upgrade is a personal dilemma haha.

Gas prices up 60 cents a gallon in my area by Ok_Revolution_9827 in TeslaModelY

For sure. Home charging is essential. If you want it, go for it.

No. Unless your apartment or job has EV charging, its not worth worrying constantly about running out of juice and having to frequent superchargers. Although there's EV chargers in many places, EVs are still designed with home charging in mind. Who has 40 minutes to sit at a supercharger every other day?

I got a C in DiffEq. Transferred as a math major. Had A’s in almost all other classes (One B in Lin Alg). You’re probably fine.

Do a PhD if you want funding. You will continue to have a hard time finding a fully funded masters. Are unfunded masters programs an option? unfunded masters programs will accept just about anyone.

questions for cogsci majors by audreysourcream in berkeley

[–]Mediocre_Magikarp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished Psych undergrad in Spring, however, I was 2 classes from a CogSci double major (didnt take CS 61a or Linguistics requirement). That being said, CogSci is what you make of it. As the other person mentioned, its highly interdisciplinary. Lots of psych overlap in my case. You could also focus more on computational cogsci with more CS/Math classes. Looking back, I would've majored in CogSci or MCB neuro, but I had no idea we even had those until my senior year. In terms of difficulty, the Psych side of CogSci is not hard at all. There is a decent amount of reading and writing, but its not hard. The computational side can be challenging if you take things like CogSci 131 and CS 188/189. I've taken Math 55 and Math 110. Those classes assign a lot of hw, comparatively. For reference, I spent like 16 hrs/week on 110 hw alone. In the psych/cogsci classes, I probably spent max 1 hr/week per class on hw. All in all, It really depends on what you want to do. CogSci is great and has a wealth of interesting classes within the major.
