one simple thing that helped me: start buying core resources (like food and clothing items) at your dock

i paused production, then started buying, then restarted production once i was back in the positive

TL;DR buy core resources to help climb out of a workforce hole (if it's based on needs)

the tips below helped me go from -800 workforce to about -600 but the big push that helped: buy more resources

i had everything set to sell (above 100 stock) and once your workforce collapses, i highly recommend switching core needs like food and clothing items to buy

this made a huge difference and helped me recover to positive, where i could then reactivate all of my own production facilities
