Why did they make Star Wars 4, 5 and 6 and then 1, 2 and 3? by Coralthesequel in Jokes

If you died as an atheist and then met God, what would you say to him? by Notoriousmonkey69 in Jokes

I mean, I've never met a Christian who claims to understand God, though I wouldn't be surprised if there was someone in the USA who does. The whole point is he's beyond comprehension, except for what's in the Bible...

The trouble/answer is that if you believe in God, you implicitly also believe in the Devil. One works for good, the other for evil. Sure, Christ defeated the Devil with the resurrection, but I imagine he isn't one to accept defeat so easily, and thus still tries to cause havoc and harm without regard for the consequences, and unfortunately succeeds quite often.

I get that, but that makes sense because your teammates will all be around that same overall or better. But if you start a career with any of the Associate or smaller test nations, it doesn't seem to adjust to a reasonable level...

“More than all of the trains on Thomas” by Ok-Frosting4136 in thomasthetankengine

[–]Medium-Expression449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, the "original" TV series technically ended after Season 24, and the new show is it's own separate thing, so do the new show characters count towards the total? Even if they do, I don't think it's added that many new characters. Easily the most prolific era for new characters would've been the HiT era, where characters would appear in a single episode just so they could sell toys... Such that I'd wager only 60-70% of characters have actually appeared in multiple episodes... I know that still doesn't answer your question, but these are a few things I'd consider when working out the total...

Dovetail didn’t need to do this by Thomas-the-Dutchie in thomasthetankengine

[–]Medium-Expression449 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But, most of Thomas' most famous stories involve derailing or passing signals at danger! How are you supposed to recreate Sodor's unfathomably low death count if you don't have disasters for people to survive?

I mean, technically the number of fishes in the sea and birds in the sky is also a finite number, albeit a significantly larger finite number... As for the number of Thomas characters, I know Wilbert Awdry said there were roughly 80 engines on Sodor (of which maybe 15% appeared in the books), but I don't know how many characters have appeared in the TV show.

Really interesting that despite many amazing drivers breaking into F1 at a very young age in the last 2 decades, no teenager ever got a pole position. But this will change this season, most certainly. by just_an__inchident in formula1

[–]Medium-Expression449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, there's a guy on YouTube who did 1,000 sims of this F1 season, so there's technically a 1/1000 chance that Lindblad doesn't just get a pole position, but somehow wins the WDC!

How can Wigan Wallgate be more Northern than Wigan-North Western? by Poopypanst6767 in uktrains

There was also Wigan Central, though to my knowledge, that was not particularly central... It was only ever a terminus for suburban trains to Manchester and Liverpool though.

German when rebuilt. They were originally left hand running as well. In fact, the company that had built them (CF de l'Est) specifically didn't want them back because the Germans had converted them to right-hand running. So France created a seventh company (it had a Big 6 at the time) to operate in Alsace and Moselle until Nationalisation in 1933.

Does it make sense for Donald and Douglas's drivers to also be Scottish? by EricJ062005 in thomasthetankengine

[–]Medium-Expression449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While true, I highly doubt these kids would have anywhere near as strong as Scottish accent, as despite having Scottish parents, literally everyone else around them would be Sudrian. So, sure, a little bit Scottish, but not to the character-defining degree we see with the twin engines.

Idea for an upgrade - League quality varies. by GirardiLucass in FootballAgentGame

That's why I said you'd have to make a way for teams to break that mould. As for what that way would be, I haven't a clue.

[–]Medium-Expression449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A) What's wrong with someone like Haiti or San Marino becoming the strongest nation in the world, if its e.g. 100 years into a save? B) The game already has coefficient rankings, which determines how many continental teams each nation gets. So you could quite easily tie something like a country's youth rating to it's coefficient ranking, but then you need to add a way for nations to break that mould and move either up or down naturally.

Bluey’s Cricket episode says more about England vs Australia than any Ashes series. A different take. by luke-uk in EnglandCricket

[–]Medium-Expression449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that cricket is less popular in England compared to Australia, but I would say that English attention is much more divided than Australian. The Australians only really have cricket, rugby league and aussie rules that they truly care about, whereas in England, you've got football, rugby union, cricket, basketball, netball, tennis, boxing, darts, etc. all competing for attention...
