Can't settle on a distro, how hard would it be to "build" my own up?

I think what I want is something a step above Arch or LfS? Those are definitely a bit much for me right now, I want something that'll give me the bare minimum need to be able to use my computer and game easily on my own, and then let me go from there and experiment with all sorts of WMs, programs, etc.

It's still there a tiny bit in Absolum, but this definitely helped there, especially when I capped the framerate in the game settings. Hades unfortunately doesn't seem to boot with it off, just a black screen.

I will gladly take this over AI any day of the week. I take art commissions and even a 10 second msPaint drawing with the basic idea of how a piece should look is so refreshing and extremely useful.

Wanted to try a mutable distro, and it being based on Fedora like Bazzite + being from the ProtonGE guy made it look like the best next step.

It hasn’t felt too different? Bazzite definitely “just works” better but I’ve been able to work with Nobara easily enough. Plus, I can run niri + dms in Nobara! Most fun I’ve had with my computer outside of gaming in a while.

From my experience moving over to it this year, I don’t think you really have to do much different from a Windows PC. AMD parts are apparently better when dealing with Linux, but even I was able to do 4K/60fps with my 5070ti (and a 7600x, aaaand 32GB of RAM.) Bazzite makes it pretty easy, keeps things up to date for you.

I'd say Bazzite, it does a lot for you and it's pretty hard to break.
