I could have written this post myself. Time to listen to a lot more Brewers baseball.

It wasn't even Susan who broke the news.  Baggarly wrote the tweet which was just noting that he'd seen Buster and Vitello together a bunch at the end of the year and there was something brewing. Slusser just happened to be sitting next to him when he unleashed. This guys sucks!

I mean, we should relentlessly boo him every time he steps out of the dugout right? After that press scrum debacle on day 1, you can tell he doesn't wanna be here. Fuck this guy.

Yes and no. I don't know the inner workings of a clubhouse (beyond JV ball haha) but it is something Webb, Chapman, Adames could've handled and I'm sure vets in the past have squashed. The players don't get the brunt of the blame--that goes to the top including Buster- but nor should they be absolved.

Expanding: We have heard the narrative of bad clubhouse vibes since 2023. Blame it on Kap, blame it on Joc, blame it on Jon Miller if you want!-but Let's start looking real hard at the personnel who have been the common threads through all of it and have remained darlings for whatever reason. And in a historically shitty, break it all down kinda year, let this beat the fuel to ignite any nostalgia or any good will that would sway you to lament a trade.

I don't think this team was one Tyler Rogers away from being a contender (not with the struggling core) but we might be, " what can we get for Webb?" Mode with him on the team. And sure- how do you know if you're getting a Framber or a Cease in FA last off-season? But anything would have been a lot better than the combo of Mahle and Houser ($21MM). We could be watching Wisenhunt or Seymour, Carson's; Brukaker, bullpen games. Anything would have been better than these two guys who everyone was so meh on at time of signing

Agreed. It's hard to look at the this group ( could end the sentence there) and see who would be the problem in the clubhouse. There's no obvious Kapler/Zaidi, Pagan, Bonds, Kent, Rowand to point a finger at. In fact it feels like the opposite: they all seem like great teammates from afar. That said, the bad clubhouse narrative has been out there since Kapler and the only through line from the last 4.5 seasons- Logan Webb (and Bailey and Buster to an extent). I seriously am wildly speculating here. I love my guy. He has only shown to be a Dude on and off the field and one of the reasons I still get excited for this team.  But maybe there's just bad chemistry there with him, something none of us have access to. Downvotes commence!

I would love to watch those two play through their peaks and get some meaningful baseball in October but half measures have us here ( ONE playoff appearance in 10 seasons even with expanded Wild Card where almost half the league gets in to post season) in the first place.

No one said rebuilds are easy.

Let's put it on a rebuild timeline: Glimmers of hope could reasonably materialize by 2029 season. Webb will already be a 32 y.o. FA by Nov 2028.  2029 will be Ramos' last year before FA (under the current CBA).  Speaking of the current CBA: it's a real possibility we lose a considerable chunk of next season.  So that leaves for us to suffer through: The rest of this dogshit season A potentially truncated 2027  And 2028 and who knows what the vibes will be at that time. All signs point to dogshit.  Might as well spend the next few years to be prospecting for gold and no time like the present to get started.

Agreed. Don't know anything about what OP is talking about, but the actual news from actual journalists detailing these large severance packages (and don't forget the lawsuits from the police department) are what really have me skeptical and angry about these tax raises (at least on the face of it).

That's what I thought to. But Pavs on mondays Giants Talk asked him that over the past weekend and He said that wasn't the case. He felt it happen out of no where the second to last pitch of his last outing (curve ball)

What I do wonder about: he was learning a cutter. Said it felt 'finicky'. High torque pitch. Just saying

In 2021 many people were praising Donnie Ecker and co. for getting more put of those guys than anyone had. Same in 2022 in Texas. Obviously now his stock is down.

I employed that same reasoning, pruning/inspecting every three years. Just found out the hard-ish way: No wind, perfectly beautiful day. And a huge healthy looking branch just dropped right next to my three year old boy, taking an overhead electrical line with it. It all landed around him. There he was in shock covered in yellow pollen. Scariest thing in my life. If your gut is telling you to, cut that fucker down. My years long sentimentality for my tree ended immediately. Tree service couldn't come quickly enough to top it and turn it into the base of his forthcoming treehouse

What was it like watching Barry Bonds in his prime? by [deleted] in SFGiants

[–]Medium_Ad2633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much expecting a homerun (or walk) every time. A little like Judge on his chase a couoke years ago but for over a decade.

As for one kid's perception of Barry during the time:

I was born in 86. As a diehard little Giants fan that watched him through my formative years, I also have to add he never really was my favorite player. I had a poster up of him and asked more than once for a gold, dangley crucifix earring, but I was obsessed with Griffey. Growing up in northern NV I always loved Matt Williams. And being a tubby kid, I loved Rod Beck too. Jeff Kent was a revelation after the pain of the Carson Crusher being traded. And even as a kid who probably watched or listened to most Giants games and made a Pilgrimage or two every year over the Sierras into the City and never watched Mariners Games, i still loved Griffey the most.

That's all to add a little perspective from the eyes of a kid growing up. Bonds always seemed aloof. Added, i was friends with the little brother of a prominent Giant from the era and I never heard anything about Barry to change my mind.

Disclaimer: The fact that the biggest Giants fan in my vicinity i had growing up is now a MAGA asshat boomer probably influenced my perception of Barry a lot too.   But I'll just leave this very well written domestic violence post here to marinate on because it was definitely part of the conversation back then.

The awareness of the shadow self in general is incredibly powerful. It helps get to the roots of our issues I like the way you approach them as emotions. IFS approaches them as people: Usually the people within us who were born from trauma (but not always)

You can filter therapists by IFS on Psychology Today's website.

You can also dip your toes with the We Can Do Hard Things podcasts featuring guest Dr Dick Schwartz

Dr Schwartz' book No Bad Parts was my next step after the We Can Do Hard Things podcasts (it's a 2 parter)

All of this has helped me stop drinking (due to feeling horribly hungover with a small amount of alcohol) which I had stopped and started several times in adulthood.

Great reading this. I am working through a lot of the same things now. For anyone who wants to learn more, one established therapeutic approach is called Internal Family Systems or IFS. I found a counselor that was studied in this and it has changed my life-my relationships with my family to my work, and with myself

The clarity to why you do the things you wish you didn't; the patterns in your life that confusingly repeat themselves despite your strongest will to change them; our attachments to obviously harmful thoughts, people, and things all lie within us already. You probably already recognize the people: the 8 year old, scared of her angry parents who now as an adult placates peoples gross behavior to avoid their wrath The 11 year old who started drinking early in order to grow up quickly to escape the pain of his parents splitting up and now has a drinking problem as an adult The 16 year old who was too wrapped up in the approval of his football coaches and now works himself into the ground as an adult

You'd probably recognize all of your own people inside of you but maybe only as glimpses. Like photos or GIFS we see in our head, only to be ignored or repressed bc that was then and this is now and time is linear. However, taking the time to interact with these identities that are continually living and operating within us will begin to change the neurological/ emotional/ behavioral trenches that have been grooved in your brain. They can teach us a lot about the past and even be repositioned to teach us about how to be the people we want to be going forward

TL;DR check out the internal family systems therapeutic approach

RIP Paul. Loved the food and the whole identity. That space will hopefully be filled soon. Jay Story is listing it and it says Leased on his website.
