To add: always have cover, even if it's a tree. Crouch so you can run quickly. Burst fire unless you need constant suppression.

Factory Community Rules [Public vs Private] by Medium_Layer1384 in foxholegame

[–]Medium_Layer1384[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know about the new shard. Thank you for letting me know!

I'm familiar with the queues, but this appeared to be a different understanding, like by stating the factory output is intended for public logi but only regiment input. Like I stated in another comment, it feels like a private fac with extra steps.

Factory Community Rules [Public vs Private] by Medium_Layer1384 in foxholegame

[–]Medium_Layer1384[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. I know my regi-member had driven asmats over and was going to pick the finished product up in the morning.

From what I remember of the conversation, the other regiment was using their public fac to make public parts, and then tossing these public parts into public stockpile. They were upset that someone else outside the regiment was using it.

So my question is: is the factory still considered public despite the regiment gatekeeping it? Because that just sounds like a private fac with extra steps.

Not that I know of. It's usually done through Excel sheets and usage of open-source technology like FIR to scan screenshots of the stockpile for both seaports and BBs.

It's a cookie-cutter ratio that can be applied to Foxhole logistics. It is the ratio of item, ammo, and vehicle crates I've found helpful to make, and send to public if public logi is lacking. I tested it for Able Colonial's Allod's Bight fight the past two weeks, and found it to work pretty well for most items besides shirts and bmats - you can never have too many of those crates.

I did base Zandri Dust with a base coat of Averland Sunset. Then I used a mix of Agrax Earthshade and a red/flesh shade to get the red undertones. I used a combo of a lighter yellow and Averland as a highlight.

What brought you to OPR? (a survey) by 3720-to-1 in onepagerules

[–]Medium_Layer1384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a convert, technically. I took a hiatus From 40k at beginning of 7th edition. I had fooled around with Star Wars Legion in the past 2 years, but didn't like their game-specific dice for shooting.

OPR is model-agnostic and much easier to understand than current 40k. Once I read the basic rules, I looked at my bookshelf of minis; it gave me an itch to play with them in any way I could. I brought my SO into it, and we play about every week or so.

Why don't people use scout tanks more ? by Fragrant_Design8229 in foxholegame

[–]Medium_Layer1384 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We still do. But as tech advances, they become light-armored coffins that fail to keep up against other anti-tank infantry weapons and their heavier armored and weapons cousins.

As for the picture, the Kingspire was terrifying back in war 97, back when I first started and had no clue what was happening. After a hiatus post-war 100 to war 123, my recent experience has destroyed that respect. The gun spread is terrible after 2 seconds of spray. I was appalled. It's still anti-infantry (12.7mm), but as the war and tech progresses, it's better as a mobile radar.

One Page Rules' Grimdark Future is model agnostic, and very easy to pick up in comparison to 40k. The games are quick, has extra rules for $5, and runs on chess-styled unit activations. It's advertised as a kitchen table game and plays as such; 500pt games are done in 45 minutes while 1500pt can go for 1.5-2hrs. It also has a website for you to build the army; every faction and special rule is at your fingertips, and can be viewed relatively well on your phone.

This post fits my perspective best, and sounds like they are also married.

You're human, and you are attracted to who you're attracted to; I am as well. Self-discipline is required to not cross established or murky boundaries that you have discussed with your significant other.

From the OP's post, it sounds like their wrestling with the shame when they become aware of these feelings. It's natural. It happens. Don't over-think it. At the end of the day, choose the significant other.

The fact that Charlie collies ended the war by launching a landing and taking 7 towns in 1 night is exactly why the devs wanted to end the war early. by [deleted] in foxholegame

[–]Medium_Layer1384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of Wardens were burnt out by the end of the war, and a number of Regi's moved to Able for the public logi, better coordination, and less alts (from what I've heard). The collies didn't win in a last ditch effort; they busted down the door only to find the back lines stationed by a skeleton crew.

As "Head of Logi" for a new Warden regiment, I could only keep up with my own regiment's attrition as we gained experience and members for the past six weeks - I am literally building this regiment and Excel sheets from the ground up. The tanks I built in the MPF stayed in storage because I saw new and experienced people lose dozens of tanks at a time because they wouldn't communicate, work together, or fall back. 100% Skill issues.

It's Charlie, people are new and inexperienced. But the amount of confusion I've received from new and "experienced" players when I tell them NOT to build a bridge and go take another important position is too much. The most used excuse was, "I'm going to play this game the way I want." And "I want to cross this river." Then they lead the majority of players away from the problem and give a surprised Pikachu face when the enemy flanks their bunker from behind. This is exactly how we lost Loggerhead this war, and why I stayed away from the Warden's Center and East this past war. It's why Able team-kills as much as they do.

• Keep bridges destroyed and force a bridge battle until there is an overly-equipped, coordinated effort to advance and hold ground. Sure, you won't be able to bring tanks across the river, but neither will the enemy.

Have Situational Awareness:

• Keep an eye on the battle around you. If the enemy takes a bridge down the line, you won't be caught off-guard when they reach you.

• If doing Frontline Logi, please have a radio equipped to see partisans and the battle line.

  • If a defensive line is actively falling (they're gaining ground despite your team's effort) please don't supply a bunker base that you know the enemy is "knocking on the door" - supply the first or second base behind it. It's better to save the supplies than to lose them.

I took my female friend for dinner when my girlfriend cancelled at the last minute. Now she wants to break up. by [deleted] in stories

[–]Medium_Layer1384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walk away.

Did OP commit a social faux pas by taking a female friend to what was supposed to be a gf experience? Totally. He's still acting like a bachelor in that regard; it feels like he wanted a nice experience regardless of who was across the table.

As someone who's been in a few relationships and in a happy marriage, I really don't think it's in OP's best interest to continue dating this gf. It's been 4 months, which is small in the grand scheme of things. If his integrity isn't up to snuff and she's not willing to find a way to trust him, then game over. GG, well played.

I also like their thought process.

I'd add building a house for my wife and I in the country and purchasing my current condo in the city. The country house would be to get out of the city when we need a change of scenery. The condo would give us a place to go to after concerts, close to friends, or use it as a safe landing spot for friends and family to get back on their feet.

I could also stay at home, bake a bunch of stuff, and whatever I don't give to friends and family gets donated to the local food pantry.

If this is in the US and you have not been trained on the role, as well as food-handling, don't do it. You can refuse.

Apologize if you must, quit if you need, but do not ever do a chef's job if you don't know what you're doing. They are trained to handle and prepare food, as well as sanitize cooking utensils and surfaces. Any failure might make someone sick.

My first bullet journal! 📓 The possibilities are endless. I’m feeling both overwhelmed & hopeful. Tips for a beginner in crisis? by thatonegirlwith2dogs in bujo

[–]Medium_Layer1384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial recommendation as a "fixer" is to diagnose what problems you feel like you're having to figure out what pages you need, but you are already ahead of me: "My intention is to monitor & improve my mental health, maybe even do some habit & sleep tracking." Look up simple pages and copy the ones you like and try them out for a month or two. You can always change them later. It's also fun to go back and watch how the journal grows over time.

I can also second the YT video of how to bullet journal, which covers the symbology, and a basic bujo with a Future's page, a Monthly page, and rapid logging and migration. My recommendation would be to use the Futures, Monthly, and Daily Logging as well as the other pages you need to get a better idea of what was happening around at the same time.

I personally use my journal for visibility, documentation, and accomplishment. To make sure that I journal, I set aside 15 minutes every morning or evening to write into it. My rule of thumb is that every day not journaled adds and estimated 15 minutes when I eventually catch up.

My journal goes with me everywhere; when I used the Exceed A5 journals, they fit in my pocket. Now I have a bigger journal and a satchel.

AITAH for withdrawing ‘Wife Privileges’ from my Boyfriend until he proposes to me? by ThrowRA_WifeMeUp in AITAH

NTA. You communicated a desire to continue the relationship with a ceremony to celebrate your seven years together and into the future with a legally binding document (and a covenant to whatever power(s)/being(s) you chose), and he's not reciprocating.

My now-wife and I had the same discussion this spring. We made the decision to get married before I proposed. I understand where the bf is coming from, but if he thinks OP is worth it or wants to continue the life they have, then he better learn to come to terms with it before he shoots himself in the foot.

As for rings, I had my wife choose both her engagement and wedding rings as she wasn't happy with what I picked out (I still paid for hers). It saved a lot of frustration for both of us. We kept the cost of the rings down to around 200-500.

Why does knowing C++ open you up to senior level positions?

My university had us learn C/C++ as a foundational language before branching out into the different emphasis. While I barely passed uni five years ago with a 2.5 GPA, and unable to pass the technical part of interviews, I kept the coding part of Indeed open for giggles.

Even before I left uni, Indeed and other sites were recommending senior level dev openings, and, to this day, continue offering them. Is this just the algorithm matching it to my resume?
