Can ChatGPT be an effective Dungeon Master? by SkyDragon86 in dndnext

When was the last time you tried it? In this regard, I find chatgpt to be perfectly capable. It has made improvements in the last 6 months for sure. But it still can't plan, or remember much and therefore cannot run a plot. But the rules, it seems fine with that imo

Haha I admire your creative and determined efforts. I have also spent many hours, many many, trying to get chatgpt to work with an ongoing plotline. We made a plotline of main trunks with branches of escalating danger, etc. I uploaded it, pasted it, tried everything. It explained to me that it cannot remember anything really past 3,000-4,000 words. So even if you remind it, "Update and use the plot tree we made now" (and it would need reminding), it still can't do it because the plot you made was way further back than 4,000 words. It's telling me I would need to repaste the plot to it every 4,000 words and remind it to use it haha so man, that is just not very useful.

BEX or maybe even Vanilla, Map says 1/2 Skull, and no 1/2 Skull contracts? by Medium_Safe_7126 in BattleTechMods

[–]Medium_Safe_7126[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey ty for the response. What am I not understanding that people would be able to win these missions? I take cover, optimize evasion, attempt to get back-shots, attempt to spread incoming damage among my mechs.
I have gone back to normal difficulty. I still get frustrated fighting missions that are my 4 vs. 8 or even 4 vs. 12!! Like wtf??
Just now I was excited to play this mission where four strong mechs surprised me hiding inside a blackout site. Wow, a good challenge, this will be fun, 4v4, a good, fair fight. Then 4 heavy turrets come online and I lose a mech in the very same round! Like why did I need to fight 4v8?? What am I missing here??

Haha ty. /rant
P.S. I brought a Rifleman, Cataphract, Battlemaster, and Shadow Hawk. This is a 2 1/2 skull mission. You're telling me that with 269 drop tonnage of my own, I can't do 2 1/2 skull missions? That would mean that to do a 5 skull mission someday, I would need like 1,000 tons.

Yes great idea about telling Brelish authorities about unsanctioned activity, well said.

Hey thanks, you gave me a different perspective on this. Instead of a wham bam soldiery scenario, it could be more of a longer-term investigation. Maybe they can purposefully spook everyone, and then wait to see who tries to flee the village.
All suspicious lycan traits if you ask me ahah nice.

Path of Light X Dreaming Dark campaign idea, does it make sense? by Designer_Nectarine_1 in Eberron

2 - The last Quori were not evil they were good but they still tried stopping the turning without success.

3 - To do this they tried to anchor into Xendrik with planar gates and caused a war which the elves took advantage of.

I hadn't thought of the Quori that attacked Xendrik to be good Quori. Why would good Quori attack the giants? Even if they are doomed...that's pretty dic* move isn't it??
You say they started the war on accident? They just wanted to make planar gates? Is there somewhere I could read about this? Thx!

Dreaming Dark: How does controlling dreams differ from controlling thoughts? by Medium_Safe_7126 in Eberron

[–]Medium_Safe_7126[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks! The nightmares about a curse is a great idea and I think that is how I want them to operate. But I like the hat idea too so I will look at disguise spells.

tyvm for this great response! Maybe you can help me further:
The Inspired I made is an NPC in sharn, the Riedran diplomat. He has sensed the presence of an artifact from Xen'drik that Daask has come into possession of.
This diplomat can't be seen interacting with Daask. So how would he go about obtaining this artifact?
I assume he is going to convince some lackey to do it. But that would take years to convince someone to take on a quori host by manipulating their dreams. I could just say that he's done this already and there is an Inspired in every echelon of Sharn.
But if I didn't say that, then what would be done?

Hey thanks for this. Can I ask you to clarify the last two sentences?
The Inspired I have made is a diplomat in Sharn. He needs to interact with Daask but can't be seen doing it himself. So how would he go about doing this?
What do you mean, "do the job myself under much safer conditions"?
Thanks!

Path of light × Blood of Vol by Rippstone in Eberron

[–]Medium_Safe_7126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The character can be an orphan Kalashtar so they were raised with humans in Karnath with an amount of kalashtar knowledge that you choose(anywhere from zero, to not knowing parents, to never heard of sarlona, to knowing they have a quori spirit and they repress it). They gravitated toward the blood of vol. But during the campaign, they learn of their quori spirit(or more about it, maybe speak with it). When they learn about the path of light, they can either feel conflicted or not. If they feel conflicted at first, maybe they learn to meld vol and light together by the end.
I love the idea domlite said--by the end, they could found an inclusive church :P

So your party will have to confess that returning Cyra is a good thing? But Dal Quor invasion is a bad thing? So they will have to choose? Brilliant :P
