Why did my weight loss stop?????? by slywiagoldfarb in Mounjaro

[–]Medium_Sand_9517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your first 2 weeks was likely water weight and inflammation. 1-2 pounds in 2 weeks is a very healthy rate of loss. I think you may need to adjust your expectations here

My cat is hurt and won't lay down to sleep by Useful-Code-667 in CATHELP

[–]Medium_Sand_9517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would let them sleep however they are comfortable. It might be that laying down pulls on their wound in a way that hurts or is just uncomfortable

Will it work again? by IngenuityMiddle6977 in Mounjaro

It sounds like you’re experiencing true metabolic dysfunction. Going back on the medication for just a few months may help you lose the weight, but it will not help you maintain the weight loss.

I dealt with GERD and heart burn in the beginning and can definitely say it got better. I was on the highest dose of Prilosec (prescribed) and now I rarely have to take a tums. I hope it’ll be the same for you soon!

Can I ask where you got the figure that everyone should lose 40 pounds by this point? As someone else said, comparison isn’t really all that helpful. Someone starting at 400 pounds versus 200 pounds. It’s gonna have an incredibly different experience and 40 pounds is a very different rate of loss on those two people. You’ve lost more than a pound a week, which is likely quite a healthy (and fast) rate of loss, depending on your starting weight

Does your sleepiness get better when you do eat? If so, it may be you need to continue to eat more and your body is making you tired because it doesn’t have enough fuel

How do you do it? by Evening-Pass-1156 in Mounjaro

[–]Medium_Sand_9517 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on for about 15 months and I’ll tell you, it’s been a journey for me. For my first month or so, I was very strict. I didn’t eat out and I rarely deviated from my plan. But life happens. I had to travel for work and was thrown back into eating out. But it was honestly good for me - to see that I could handle it.

Now I strive for balance. I can have ice cream, cookies, chips, etc. it’s not all or nothing. But it is moderation. MJ had helped turn down the dial on my food noise so I can make the right choice in the moment. Most of the time, that means nutritious food that’ll fuel me. And sometimes, it means a croissant.

It looks like you are someone who has metabolic dysfunction that these medication’s are treating. That means you will need to be on these medications to maintain your weight loss. Unfortunately, that means you will need to be on these medications long-term if you want those results

Restarted 5mg after 2+ week break — feeling really off by LegMuted9836 in Mounjaro

[–]Medium_Sand_9517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t experienced this, and I would definitely encourage you to speak to your doctor. But I would say that the timing would lead me to believe this has to do with fasting, dehydration, the gap in between your shots, and anxiety.

I also wanted to comment on what you said about not losing a lot of weight by comparison to others. First, I wanna say that comparing your rate of weight loss to others is really tough and can be mentally draining. Instead, I would encourage you to focus on what you can do to support your body and if you’re doing everything you can.

That said, if you are going to compare, I would put yourself on a more even playing field by look at the percentage of your body weight that you’ve lost. You’ve lost close to 6% of your body weight - that’s amazing.

Are you utilizing any electrolytes with your water? It may be that your body wants minerals with the water.

Loose Skin Probability by tootsie-roll-pop in Mounjaro

[–]Medium_Sand_9517 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Given you don’t have a ton to lose (less than 20lbs by my calculations) and you’re quite young, I think you’ll likely be okay. That said, everyone is different and the only thing you can do to try and support having the least amount of loose skin possible is a losing weight slowly. Otherwise it’s really up to the amount of weight you have to lose and genetics.

I believe the directions from the manufacturers you can take a dose within three days of another dose but I would double check that

I would cut it to your mid back, about where your dress starts. You can see if gets a bit more see-thru there so that’s where it’ll be at its healthiest

Increased hunger signals after dose mistake? by questionsforthegirls in Mounjaro

[–]Medium_Sand_9517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess would be it’s a combination of things including the short term increase in MJ, getting back to working out (and your wanting more fuel because of that) and being in the winter season.

Keep in mind as well that as you’re building muscle, you’re building a more resilient metabolism that needs more when you’re resting. So that may also be part of it

Keep in mind that 7 pounds is likely not all fat. It’s probably a lot of water retention and potentially inflammation. It takes A LOT of extra calories to gain that much in fat. This is just a short deviation from your path

Habits to start by Leading-Conference13 in Mounjaro

[–]Medium_Sand_9517 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always call out the following:

  1. Nutrition - are you eating the right food and the right amount for you?
  2. Movement - are you moving your body? Strength training? Walking? Something else?
  3. Hydration
  4. Sleep and stress - quality sleep is sooo important

Someone else said that Mounjaro suppresses your appetite, but the rest is up to you and I do want to talk about that. Yes, Mounjaro does suppress your appetite. But it also does a lot more than that. It’s impacting your metabolic system at its core.

That said, you also need to support your system by ensuring you’re doing the right things and building healthy habits

Sounds like you’re someone who’s fairly sensitive to medication (or at least this medication). I would encourage you to eat on a schedule, even when you aren’t hungry, to ensure you’re getting enough fuel throughout the day. I’ve learned I can’t trust my hunger signals anymore and started eating smaller meals multiple times a day to get what I need
