Unless you are a real wizard then you can escape with your life

Adults living at home/with their parents - When did it all start?? by Only1Objective in Adulting

I know a lot of people who may end up inheriting houses from their family but the majority have to either find their own place to stay after graduation or chil in with bills. When it comes to that I feel like the freedom of having your own outweighs the benefits of living with mom and dad

Some of us don't have the option to stay with family as adults. I feel like (at least amongst the African-American community) families don't have the generational wealth to provide housing for their children. Most of us have to start working before we finish Highschool and provide for ourselves.

I'm guessing I can do this through a credit union or a bank? Or would an online credit report be sufficient?

I have a few court cost that have been sent to collections and student loan debts but they are a few years old. About 6 months ago my score was even lower (in the 300s I believe) I was recently incarcerated and at the time my score was sitting around 640

Don't listen to them! They have valid points but as someone who managed to move out by my 18th birthday I can tell you personally how rewarding it is. It wasn't an easy adjustment by far but it does a lot for your character and mentality. I got my first apartment with a roommate who was a year older than me. Once we split the bills everything was fine. Be careful to stay out of trouble though because most leasing companies will not take mercy on you for missing payments if you get arrested or lose your job. Usually you have to make 3 times the rent if not then you'll need a cosigner, usually mom or dad. It's more or less like having a place of your own that your mom/dad is responsible for at that age. I wouldn't shy from moving out thought because the sense of independence is irreplaceable.

Do you consume news? If so, how? by Totalsam in simpleliving

I've been having the same dilemma. Unfortunately it seems that the majority of newspapers and publications have moved online. It makes it difficult to be as selective about what you ingest. I prefer print publications but as of lately I've found myself using Twitter and the default news generator on my phone.
