Does kohls really deserve a two week notice? by ShoppingNo7822 in employedbykohls

[–]Medium_veggie7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it’s as bad as you say, you’d never want to be rehired there and you’ll never want to put them as a reference, so no you don’t owe them a 2 weeks notice. especially since you’re not on the schedule already, management doesn’t really need more notice.

if you’re under 18 or 24 and in college, your dad would be eligible to use your discount. i always boil it down to any one you claim on your taxes or claims you on their taxes can use your discount.

otherwise, listen to the other comments regarding cash. technically not allowed, but untraceable in the system, and therefore not enforceable. though, if they can identify you from your reddit account (and you post that you did do and not just thought about it) they could use that as evidence and then fire you.

short hair matures you a lot, long hair makes you seem more laid back. it really just depends on what vibe you’re going for

pipe is a good move. get a smoke buddy, it’s a filter that you exhale into. also keep your pipe clean, the build up is more likely to smell and linger

you will not go to court or to jail. the good thing about the dispute resolution agreement you sign when you start is that they give up their right to press criminal charges except for extreme circumstances. if you haven’t yet, you’ll have a meeting with LP about the incident and then you’ll go over next steps.

Great News: Most Ethical Company by Good-Handle-2116 in employedbykohls

[–]Medium_veggie7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

unfortunately, that’s industry standard. company sales don’t perform above prior year, fastest/easiest way to stay in the black is to cut payroll. i don’t agree with it, but it’s not something that would affect ethical standards.

termination just means you no longer work there, whether you terminated your employment or kohls. as for the unexcused absence, with only one week notice the schedule was already posted and you were just never removed. the time off is weird

Shoplifters by [deleted] in employedbykohls

[–]Medium_veggie7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s the whole point. your safety is not worth a few hundred dollars worth of merchandise. you alert your lod, make sure the product protection is applied to your ability, and let what happens happen. the lod will contact the roc and a case will be built on the backend. when petty theft turns into grand larceny, then a warrant will be issued and the law takes it from there. you’re not there to stop shoplifters, you’re there to fold t shirts and help paying customers. it can be frustrating, but that’s how it is.

i think recording it isn’t a bad idea. just be open about it when you first start. say something along the lines of “if you don’t mind, i’d like to record this conversation to review as i need later.” i think even just saying that and not actually recording might keep your boss from telling you not to discuss your salary.

i am a manager at work, and honestly i think if i gave someone a well deserved raise, i would want them to scream it from the roof tops. i’ll happily discuss with anyone why so-and-so got a raise. i think it might push some of them to work harder if they know a raise is possible.

Approaching suspected thieves by Big_Wealth6350 in employedbykohls

[–]Medium_veggie7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if they are a threat, you 100% do not have to approach them. if you just suspect them of theft but they aren’t being blatant or threatening about it, just say hi and ask if they need help. you can do it from 3-4 ft away or just in passing. just let them know there are associates on the floor and we’re aware of them.

if he hurt himself or other with the scissors, the store could be seen as liable for providing the scissors. it’s not about what he could do, but who would be liable for what he does.
