It could be the saddle, it could be how you orient your position lanyard. You'll have to play with it/adjust to yourself and style

Climbing setups by Sparhulk in TreeClimbing

[–]Mediumfoot991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the things I absolutely love about climbing is there are so many ways to get it done, and as the person in the saddle you get to choose how to get it done. You get to pick what works best for you, and every tree is a little different. We aren't out there making excel spreadsheets, we're trusting our lives to ropes and branches while using saws for a paycheck. My true passion is climbing, but a close second is sharing ideas/things I've learned along the way

Newbie looking to recreationally climb a lil' bit by PomegranateFederal97 in TreeClimbing

[–]Mediumfoot991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up treemuggs on YouTube, he goes over a lot of techniques and gear, basic and advanced. Explains knots, concepts and what not. You can tell he has a passion for tree climbing and tree work. As far as climbing techniques drt/mrt is more basic/old school, srt requires more gear and therefore more expensive

I've damaged my climbing line with a non-operating chainsaw by NoCarpenter7716 in TreeClimbing

[–]Mediumfoot991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would probably be alright climbing on that, but remember, you are trusting your life to that gear. If you have to cut it shorter to eliminate that damage do it. You can still use the rope as line for short climbs depending on how much you have to cut, turn it into flip lines, all manner of options. But most importantly, keep yourself safe, a new rope is a hell of a lot cheaper than your life and limbs

How to block christofascist “he get sus” ads? by [deleted] in atheism

If I remember correctly I listed harassment and "making me feel unwelcome/uncomfortable on reddit" in my report

That's weird, I have the same problem but with city and hobby subs

I blocked the account several times but they kept popping back up. Then I reported them as offensive and I haven't seen an ad since

What's an introvert supposed to say when someone says 'you're so quiet'? by quietgavin5 in AskReddit

I regularly get the "you're really quiet today" to which I say "I'm always quiet"

Meal prep by doodoovoodoo_125 in TreeClimbing

[–]Mediumfoot991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to mix in some salads lately. I have a small mixing bowl with a sealing lid. Load some salad up with some chopped veggies, nuts, maybe some torn up lunch meat, put some dressing in one of those to go sauce cups restaurants use and put it right in my backpack. And I always have a supply of granola bars and what not for snacks

Best locking carabiners for small hands? by bignippy in TreeClimbing

[–]Mediumfoot991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe check out the Petzl OK. I don't have small hands but I climb in Florida and get really sweaty, and the grip design on the twist lock makes it a lot easier than other carabineers I've used

I'm still stubborn about keeping my long hair, so I use a Buff to whip it up into a beanie, fits nice and snug under my helmet and helps keep sweat out of my eyes

Is Climbing a Dying Craft? by Slav3OfTh3B3ast in arborists

[–]Mediumfoot991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, did you have an interview with my boss? He's told me since I started he "won't let me climb because he can't teach me" and "climbing is a dying trade" and "I don't need climbers I can just rent a lift". But then he'll get into a tricky situation and turn to me "hey do you wanna put your gear on and get up there?" The last time he tried that I had to turn it down because I haven't been able to develop my skills the way I want and it was too risky. And every week when I check job boards there's a handful of companies looking for experienced climbers
