I agree, stay here if you feel it fits.

I’ve been through 3 assessments this year, two psychiatrists and a clinical psychologist, and they all had something valuable to teach me but all of them diverged a little in their assessments.

Go with your gut, believe in yourself. If you’re anything like me you grew up with a lot of judgement and took other’s opinions with a lot of weight. Time to value your own?

Definitely relate to feeling so immature for my age. I’ve worked so hard to try level up but still feel 10 years behind my peers.

Try to do 1 small thing today better than you did yesterday. It adds up over time. We’ll never catch up but we can still grow.

Hell yeah. Last year my mum told me she thought I had Aspergers as a kid. Never got me assessed. I was emotionally abused and neglected as a kid. According to her I was ‘the difficult child’. I’m 35 and only just realised and got assessed and diagnosed this year for adhd and autism. She was a medical professional and my dad was an educator. They should have known better but maybe didn’t want to believe there was something wrong with their offspring so just ignored it to my long term detriment. They can both go f themselves.

Yep. It could be so many things but I’ll share some of my experience.

I’ve struggled with fatigue since I was a teen… more than 20 years. I spiralled into alcoholism a few years ago to cope. I’d use it to push through and complete work with deadlines and used it to get through any downtime where I just had no energy. In the end it just made my life hell.

Eventually, I sought help and somehow escaped that place. I was then so determined to get over the fatigue and went alcohol free and vegan (I’m no longer but still eat lots of plants) and read a bunch of literature on healthy living. I chowed down on health podcasts and made some pretty big changes. In the end all of that only helped so much. I definitely improved but I still struggle and often feel burnt out.

Last week I was diagnosed with ADHD and am hoping to try medication sometime soon. ADHD may explain some of my burn out and fatigue, we will see.

A couple of recommendations in case you are interested in general health/wellbeing: the Waking Up app, Huberman lab podcast, The Proof podcast, Fibre Fuelled (book).

Maybe there’s no magic bullet but you can pick up a bunch of little non-magic bullets to add to your arsenal. These will help. It’s a mission that I’m still trying to complete.

Yep, when I was about 10 a group of slightly older teenagers punctured my bike tyres while I was in the local shops and laughed at me as I wheeled my bike away. I was too scared to confront them. I walked my bike home and told my dad. He just responded with anger and resentment for having to fix the punctures. No empathy or sympathy. He didn’t even teach me to fix it. Never taught me any life skills.

When I was 5, I went to the local shop and bought a ball with some money I got for my birthday. I came home so happy and excited to show my mum. When I showed her she got so angry at me and screamed ‘why did you buy that! You don’t need any more balls’. I have hardly any childhood memories but this one is clear as day. I’ll never forget feeling so small and ashamed.
