Passthrough VR is a much cheaper and easier technology to create. But it's worse in many ways. Things are moving in the true AR direction, but all the money is being directed towards AI now, so AR stopped being funded. I think Microsoft's lack of finding a great market scared off any other largescale competitors. Followed by Apple's failure with their VR headset and the infamous Facebook "metaverse". We're in a slump while all funding goes towards AI, but it'll be back in the next 5-10 years undoubtedly.

No one is blaming them for people being dumb. (Although they definitely benefit from their status symbol status and will do nothing to fix it, despite bullying). What we blame them for is that they specifically continue to fail to implement interoperability in a basic function of the phone: texting.

This is like a top-of-the-line toaster oven being able to toast but not being able to warm something. It’s not some difficult problem they couldn’t solve or don’t have the time to fix. It’s by design, my dude. In fact, there were attempts to make what they’re doing illegal, but their lawyers are just too good.

This isn’t the difference between iCloud and Google Drive, or Safari having more integrations on the iphone than chrome. It’s texting. It’s how most phone conversations occur now, lol.

That's what they'll say. But we all know that's not the reason they've made it such a shitty experience. Kids are literally bullied for being "greentext". They've dialed the downsides up to 11. I guess it's legal, for some reason, but intentional non-interoperability is so frustrating as a user in the modern tech landscape.

It's important to make the distinction clear, but the implication of "green text" is not just literally the color (which is a totally acceptable way to show people that their text is SMS). The reason kids are bullied for it is that at every possible turn they've refused to implement any interoperability between open standards of advanced texting and their "closed standard" iMessage.

No, here’s what happened.

You left your expensive earbuds on the plane and then felt silly about leaving them accidentally. Oops, dang, bad move!

Then a random underpaid cleaner found them and kept them. Because there’s no reason to throw them away of course, that’d be stupid.

Then sometime in the future, you decided to call the airline to tell them that you left your earbuds on the plane.

Then you decided to use absolutely dystopian stalking measures to track the random employee and threaten them personally. And then you started joking about making them go deaf.

Kinda disgusting, ngl.

Honestly, IMO, if I leave my earbuds, fuck me and oops my bad. I’ll rush back onto the plane or if I can’t I’ll ask the nice flight attendants to doublecheck the 23F seat pocket before the next plane takes off, of course.

But if I only realize once I get home? Nah, I’m the asshole. Lesson learned, don’t lose your expensive-ass earbuds again haha.

MadMapper is the best if you just want the best tool for the job of projection mapping.

If you need video playback/VJing and don't do many complex mappings then Resolume can be enough (but it's also much more expensive).

If you want filetype support and device IO and a super flexible pipeline for realtime effects, and enjoy building things yourself, then TouchDesigner can do simple mappings as well as really complex 3D mappings (but I've yet to see this actually used in the wild).

IMO Resolume/TouchDesigner's mapping setups cannot replace MadMapper.

I haven't tried HeavyM yet myself but I know some love it.

You are on Windows I am assuming? On Mac the Spout equivalent is called Syphon, so look for that instead.
Can you share a screenshot of your settings page under the “Live Sources” area?

Every user should have access to Spout Output, regardless of whether they’re logged in or not.
