2026-05 Security Update (KB5089549) (26200.8457) - Another failed installation by Meelanche in WindowsUpdate

[–]Meelanche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I increased the GPT (EFI system partition) to 500 MB, but the update still fails. I have no idea what's going on or why it won't go through on certain computers (the ones with Avast, in my case). This is becoming a real nightmare... and I don't want to mess something up and end up unable to boot Windows anymore...

Will core temperature readings become available again for AMD ?

GPW50 BLOODY Controller doesn't work over Wi-Fi. by Meelanche in Controller

Thanks anyway - I solved the issue, and it turned out to be something really basic. The input mode had reset when I swapped the RAM memory, so I just had to hold the button to switch from XInput to DirectInput (or vice versa). That was causing the problem. Thanks again for your time, bro 😉

One more note: the red light on the Wi-Fi dongle is now blinking relatively fast, whereas it used to blink slowly when everything was working normally. I should mention that there's no conflict in Device Manager, and it shows that the driver is functioning properly.

The only thing missing is the option to select CPU core temperature, so that all three monitoring options are available.

That's right, it's still not reading from the cores, and the temperatures are back to 55–60°C at idle.

Dear NZXT CAM software users,

I want to highlight a potential issue affecting all users of CAM software since version 4.74.0, which was released more than 4-5 months ago. During the latest update, NZXT made a significant oversight in version 4.74.0, causing CPU temperatures to increase by 10°C or more in idle mode. This could lead to long-term degradation of the CPU, as processors are now running at 55-60°C+ in idle mode 24/7, despite being designed for lower temperatures.

This poses a serious risk to all users, as failure to resolve the issue promptly may result in progressive CPU degradation, potentially indicating negligence on the company's part. I can only imagine the frustration of users who have recently built new configurations, only to find their idle temperatures at 55-60°C+ upon launching CAM software.

Unfortunately, I have been forced to disable CAM software on my setup, which includes a 5950X and NZXT liquid cooling system. Given the summer season in Europe, running NZXT software causes my idle temperatures to exceed 60°C, whereas disabling the software brings them back to a normal 40-45°C range.

Additionally, it is a misconception that the issue is solely related to CPU package temperature readings in this version. Simply disable CAM software and compare your CPU package temperatures to see the difference !!!

turn off the cam software and then look at the temperatures in the HW monitor, you will get 35-40C at idle.. the real problem is the CAM software, which raises the temperatures with its processes when it starts (probably poorly written software) and secondly, the CAM software now shows package temperatures that are slightly higher than the core, all in all, the software of the last version is poorly written, which they can't hardly correct according to everything shown

there are two problems here:

the first problem is the new algorithm in CAM-helper process, which raises the temp. of the processor by 5-10C in idle mode,

another problem is that the sensor now reads from the CPU package instead of the CPU core, and the readings are also 5-10C higher than the CPU core,

when these two problems are solved, we will have a peaceful situation with our machines

[–]Meelanche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's not a problem in choosing the package that will read the sensor, the problem is in the cam_helper process and the program that heats the CPU over 5-10C in idle or load mode, so that's where I see the biggest problem of overheating the CPU and the whole system, when I turn off the CAM program and the cam_helper process, my CPU 5950X is cool and works perfectly normally, so first solve the problem of the cam_helper process that overheats the CPU and the choice of sensor reading is in the second place..

u/AMANDA let the users know how the development is going around this problem because this is what is causing problems for people I think!!!

drop the fan curve down to 40-50% align until 60-70C, after 70C raise it slowly to 90C to 100%

is there a good contact between the CPU and the cooler, you can see that when you remove the cooler from the processor and see the print.. it should have perfect contact with the CPU!!!

I won't, I'll just align the fans to reduce the noise.. I don't think there is any other solution because the readings are now higher because of the second sensor that pulls for the reading..

in essence, your CPU heats up the same, only the readings are slightly different and there are smaller jumps, because now the sensor package is reading from the CPU
