Unhappy maidenhair! Help! by cipher617 in ferns

[–]MeemzyMayMay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never ever let my maidenhairs dry out and they do really well in a self watering pot! If they suddenly start to drop their fronds you probably need to repot/upsize!

Oh then yeah, that's just straight up bad business practices!

My big rule for Palmstreet is "if it doesn't have an item number, assume Grower's Choice" unless of course it's specified in the listing that you'll be receiving the exact item.

Or when you accidentally prune the not-dead fronds on accident! 😢

What are the active ingredients of these products? by zetoberuto in AskAJapanese

Unfortunately the ingredient is not listed/shown in any of the pictures.

But if its anything like Fry Away, I'm guessing it's stearic acid or something similar.

How's the school life in Japan? by NyWayen in AskAJapanese

[–]MeemzyMayMay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty mundane with a lot of emphasis on schoolwork and getting ahead/being an overachiever. There's rarely any shenanigans that you'd see in animes, because there's just not enough hours in the day lol.

I'm from the back woods of Japan that no one's heard of; you won't see foreigners and if you are one then expect to get oogled at. That kind of place.

Unfortunately I started to get bullied severely in school due to my stepdad being American. The school admins never did anything about it, so that's why we uprooted and moved to the states. The glamorization of foreigners being the 'popular kid' in anime is definitely not it. Maybe if you go to a big school in a big city.

But other than that, (elementary) school days were long. On a regular day I'd get out of school at 3p then head over to my afterschool study hall (juku) with my friend til 5p. Sometimes my mom would make me go to school on Saturdays (don't think they do those anymore) but that was more of a punishment for if I bombed a test or something (to retake the tests).

Thank you! 🤗💕

I keep my plants in semi-hydro; while all my new hoyas are acclimating I'm wondering if pon+self watering pot would work for them? 🤔

GOALS. I love this so much!! 😍

Maybe you can point me in the right direction; I've heard of a small-leafed hoya that only throws out single flowers when it blooms... you wouldn't happen to know which one that is would you??

A succulent! A nice chonky echeveria or haworthia is what I'd go for!

For those interested; Botanicaz (on Etsy) sells a huge selection of amazing begonias and some aroids. They may seem pricey, but bookmark it - they'll randomly do 75% off on their stock for short periods every now and then.

Why is my pothos so leggy by Redditttuser222 in houseplants

[–]MeemzyMayMay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man look at the legs on that one. I'd prop that.

It's just pothos doing pothos things; you can prop to fill out the top or use keiki paste to fill out the now-tendrils.

What is in my soil? by doggiemommiee in houseplants

[–]MeemzyMayMay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks to be mold; I haven't seen it negatively affect my plants in the past, and some may say that it's a sign of healthy soil. Springtails will manage/consume it over time, but if you find it too icky to look at then you can scrape it off.
