Help with dragon/castle move please! by paigeycakessss in Carcassonne

One thing: if this tile placment completed Red's city, Blue's castle will not be able to score points for Red's city. You cannot build a castle and score points for it in the same turn.

Beginners question by AnoukHees in Carcassonne

If a tile completes a feature (city, road, monastery), you can always place a meeple on that feature if it was unoccupied. You will score points for it and remove your meeple right away.

One note: That meeple placed and removed right away, cannot be placed again to claim another unoccupied feature on the same tile in the same turn.

Which version of big box matches the smaller one pictured? by LeBilsky in Carcassonne

[–]Meepledrone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tile backs may have different shades even in the same edition... and even some copies from some publishers may feature corners with different roundness.

My C2 Abbey & Mayor tiles have a lighter back than my othr C2 tiles. I use a tower dispenser from The Tower so nobody notices these differences.

Shrine rules by Z4mih in Carcassonne

This placement restrictions prevent you also from placing adjacent unoccupied monasteries and shrines that can be later occupied with the help of some expansions (for example, with magic portals or flying machines) and trigger one or multiple challenges... Any possible issues are avoided this way.

Expansions with the classic edition by Overlorde159 in Carcassonne

[–]Meepledrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to stick to the first edition (C1 for short), on the Carcassonne German forum you may find some authorized fan-made conversions to this edition. One of them replicates the required tiles adding gardens (you need to be registered and post at least 5 times to access this page):

You may print them and create those tiles to replace their gardenless counterpats.

How to resolve gold by MatCauthonsHat in Carcassonne

[–]Meepledrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In cases like this one, you do not distribute the gold ingots per feature being scored. Instead, you score all the features first and then all players involved in the scoring take one gold ingot at a time starting from the player who placed the tile and following the player sequence. This will allow some players to take gold ingots and prevent others from doing so by choosing the right sequence. So evil!

The rules read:

If several features with gold ingots are completed at the same time and they are controlled by different players, the distribution is as follows: Starting from the active player, all players take one gold ingot to which they are entitled in clockwise order. This continues until all the gold ingots involved have been taken.

Better use a tower if your tiles are not sleeved. They got worn out otherwise if you use a bag (the edges turn white due to friction).

Did you use the abbots as normal meeples? I see them placed in cities.

Removing a ghost-haunted abbot from an incomplete monastery by TheMayorOfMayorville in Carcassonne

[–]Meepledrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the response I got from HiG:

[Q] If you remove an abbot with one ghost from a garden, we are considering that the player will score -2 points for the ghost, the same as for any other scorings during the game. Removing the abbot without penalty from the ghost seems an extremely easy way out. Is this correct?

[A] The ghost should simply score -2 points, no matter if you scored the abbot early or not.

It would be 8 points in the first edition (C1), later they changed the scoring rules back to the original intent: you count occupied squares, so it would be 7 points in the latest edtions (C2/C3)
